The best advice I can ever offer Democrats is to pretend like they’re Republicans in how they promote their own policies and attack the opposition, because otherwise the party insists on not getting it

Imagine if the gop passed the child tax credit how they’d never shut up about it. Imagine if Democrats kept passing laws about inspecting kids genitals how Republicans would never shut up about it. None of this is hard it’s just that Democrats won’t do it.

If Democrats attacked the Capitol, Republicans would wrap themselves in the flag and talk about it incessantly like they did 9/11. Democrats simply haven’t done that and frankly they went to Republicans for help in investigating a right wing attack! That’s loopy as hell.

Democrats have spent the last 6 years constantly begging Republicans to “go back to normal” and the utterly predictable Republican response has been to quadruple down on extremism because it works and the opposition party is a pushover.

I see no evidence of improvement and this is all going to get much worse

Asking Republicans for help on the 1/6 commission and spending so much time trying to make it bipartisan is one of the dumbest moves ever, followed by putting so much of the commission in private. Like WTF are we actually trying to do here?

Democrats: “the public will give us credit for being bipartisan”

The Public: *pays zero attention to all this Washington gamesmanship, only hears accusations made about democrats from Republicans*

The Democrats on here who insist everything is going great - and they exist - are more out of touch with reality than the most diehard of the red hats

The press in this country absolutely sucks. I’ve now spent over two decades personally and professionally demonstrating this. And yet that doesn’t explain the unwillingness of leaders in the Democratic Party to get their acts together. Chuck Todd being terrible can only go so far

The media is not going to transform into what it should be overnight. Meanwhile Democrats just steadfastly refuse to adapt to the battle space we’re actually living in. The press is drawn to conflict and that’s the coverage that leaks into the life of ordinary people.

Create conflict. Promote progressive ideas and ostracize conservatism. They’re weird and fringe and somehow Democrats refuse to hit the giant ball sitting there on a t-ball stand.

Conservatives make hay of liberals despite the liberal mainstream not being nearly as unhinged as the right. I can at least say conservatives *try*. They don’t hit every time but they *try*. Liberals don’t try.

“We can’t try or else it makes us just like them” is the mantra of the left. Well then you lose. That’s the bottom line.
