Over a 40-year career, Latinas on average lose more than $1M lifetime earnings due to pay inequity, earning 57 cents to every dollar earned by the average non-Hispanic white man. COVID has deepened the wage gap, and today nearly 17% of adult Latinas are living in poverty.
This lost income exacerbates the racial wealth gap and impedes Latinas’ ability to support their families and build emergency funds to endure challenges like the current pandemic.
The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to advancing gender equity and equality, racial justice, and opportunity for women and families and that includes taking steps to close gender and racial pay gaps.
