Here is a closer look at the Metro train that became disabled in the tunnel just short of the lower Green/Yellow line platform at the Gallery Place-Chinatown station. Firefighters tell me they evacuated about 100 people, everyone is OK. #wmata

Metro tells me the disabled train near Gallery Place appears to have had a brake malfunction. It was a Yellow Line train. DC Fire says its crews did not encounter smoke when they arrived, but one passenger tells us there was a lot of smoke soon after it happened. #wmata

I am told they are hoping to get the disabled Metro train out of the tunnel near Gallery Place fairly soon. In the meantime single tracking continues between Mount Vernon Square & L’Enfant Plaza on the Green/Yellow lines. #wmata

The Metro train is now gone from the tunnel near Gallery Place-Chinatown, and single tracking has ended. Now we are back to what counts for “normal“ service this week. #wmata
