Story time.

So every Friday, I do a class room wellness check. Just to make sure I know every student in the school. Every classroom is named after a University or College, Black and White schools. Today, I walked into "Howard University" classroom. I jokingly asked where is
Vice President Kamala Harris picture since she's the first woman Vice President and an alumni of Howard University. Baby, this white man going to say isn't her policies problematic? I did the confused screw face, and looked at the other teacher where he said, we try not to
Endorse candidates. I said well, to your point, I'm assuming you think drug dealers, gang members and predators should be able to roam the streets in the Black community, and then I turned to the other teacher where I said, she's not a candidate, she's the Vice President.
I then turned back to TA who called her policies problematic, and said name me a policy that was problematic. He mentioned her criminal justice policy. I said for a teacher pushing falsehoods especially on a Black woman is not something you should be doing. I told him to research
Using the laptop that was in front of him because he shouldn't be peddling in lies. The teacher who said they don't try to endorse candidates have a small picture of Elizabeth Warren on his desk, so I told him he should be her from his desk because that's an endorsement.
Both of them looked really annoyed with me, so I took over their class and had a wonderful conversations with 20 students in their class. I didnt have to mention anything political to honor V. President Kamala Harris, basic shit like she's half Jamaican got 5 students to excited
After school was over they both came to my office to explain their thought process, and I wasn't here for it because it was disrespectful and being white men in a school where 99% of the school is Black and Brown students they should be welcoming Vice President Kamala Harris.
I didnt even wait for them to explain themselves, I told them to exit my office because what I'm not going to do is allow you to explain to me why you can't celebrate the First Woman V. P. who actually graduated from Howard University, thats name of your classroom. Honor her.
I told them every Friday I will be give a piece of knowledge of all the Black successful people who graduated from Howard University since yall don't want to be political even though an Elizabeth Warren picture sits on the desk. Play with other students intellect not mine.
I dont ever think they had a Black person confront them because you can see the whiteness of your frustration pouring through their facial expressions. We're not going to deny students the right celebrate history due to your ignorance to history, Black history, Women's history.

I had a 7 year old client removed from his home for sexually abusing his 2 year old brother. Stay with me, he was placed in a residential treatment facility in Virginia where I worked as a Residential Counselor. He's been in the facility for 1 year 3 months before I got him.
He had 4 counselors before, his file landed on my desk. When a counselor doesn't make progress within a certain time frame they pass the resident on to another counselor to make progress (terrible process). For 3 months, 1 hour every Monday, Tuesday and Friday we sat in silence.
They wanted to remove him from my case load. I really had to demand for him to remain on my caseload. They gave me 3 more months extension. Then one day he ask who's his next counselor, I said it will always be me if you want. He went back silent for the remainder of the session.

Last night I was at my peoples house with a few friends and my homegirl with her daugther, 5, who I haven't seen her since she was 3...any way, she told her daughter to give me a hug, and the girl was very shy, I said to the mom don't ever force your child to hug any one.
The mother said but she should know you, I said, yes that's correct, she should & that's on me not coming around as often but the reality is, she doesn't know me. I continued with, you don't want to force your daugther to hug people especially men. She looked at me and said,
You always find a way to open my mind up to different shit.

Forcing your kids to hug people, sit on their laps, kiss them... stop all of that. You're doing it innocently but their intentions are always completely opposite. It always start off with those small antics.

Just had a conversation with my oldest brother. He apologized for teasing me as a child for being gay. The first time he's ever said he was sorry. He thanked me for being a bridge to him and his gay son. He ended with he couldn't hsve asked for a better role model for his son😥😥
People don't understand, my oldest brother was our father figure growing up. After our father walked out in 1988, after my stepfather was murdered in 1995, he was the consistent male figure in our lives. He was very strict with Guyanese mentality. Being gay was NO in his book.
Being someone who wasn't out, I did like to play with dolls since I was 5. He teased me so bad, it terrified me to what to expect as an adult. We would be in Guyana he would literally mock the LGBT community for living in a segregated place away from people. He was just mean.

Story Time: My rape experience:
My boyfriend for 3 years, he literally ghosted me, packed all his shit up when I was at work, and left town with his "friend" which later I found out was his side dude. He changed his number and didn't respond to his email.
He was gone for 5 months, and I didn't hear from him at all until he showed up late one night out of the blue. I worked a double this day, 7am - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm at a residential treatment facility. It's about a 40 minute drive from work to home, so I made home around 12am.
As I pulled in front of my house, my censors usually turn my porch lights on but this night it didn't come on. I thought it blew out. As I got to my front door, I released the light bulb was gone. I chuckled, I'm like who steals a porch light but it was Newport news, so expected.

I'm walking to the train a few minutes ago and a woman walked right up to me and gave me a tight hug and whispered quickly, "please act like you know me 3 guys are following me for a while" I played along then walked her 3 blocks home. What an experience for the both of us.
I'm not going to act like I didn't hesitate because we're in New York, people set you up real quick. Her hug was too real to be fake, and three men was following behind at a distance. As walked and talk i realized she was terrified, she kept saying i have to get home to her son.
I was walking looking at the debate, at the glance I saw her reaching her hands up, and before I can react she hugged me. After the hug she held my hand as we walked to her building. She apologized for the inconvenience, and I had to tell her it was my pleasure no inconvenience.
