The NSBA's gambit to label parents "domestic terrorists" has collapsed. Their organization has splintered, their strategy has backfired, and their board has been forced to apologize.

I'm going to explain exactly how we did it.🧵
First, when the letter came out, we immediately framed the narrative on social media that the NSBA and AG Garland wanted to "label parent domestic terrorists." My initial tweet did 14 million impressions, sparking a week-long media cycle that exploited their reckless language.
We then deployed a rhetorical ju-jitsu move, debunking the false claim that parents had been violent against school officials and recasting the dynamic as the Biden Admin using the FBI to suppress parents and criminalize dissent. Suddenly, they were on the defensive.
Next, the incredible @AsraNomani and @esanzi did the FOIA research to uncover that AG Garland's son-in-law was benefitting from CRT consulting and that the NSBA and DOJ had been secretly colluding on the original letter. We caught them in a double-corruption.
Meanwhile, the outrage inspired parents to double-down. The leaders of @DefendingEd, @Moms4Liberty, and @NoLeftTurnElana rallied parents to peacefully protest as "Moms vs. FBI," which framed the conflict on our terms and cast the Administration as repressive and anti-democratic.
In DC, senators such as @HawleyMO and @TomCottonAR hauled in Biden officials for testimony and grilled them on both counts: the suppression of parents and the corruption within the Attorney General's office. The Biden officials stumbled and were forced into a humiliating retreat.
We also started putting pressure on state NSBA chapters, with activists such as @DeAngelisCorey reporting that 20+ state chapters were revolting against the national organization. We hammered at them until the board was forced to apologize, blowing up the whole campaign.
The reason we were successful: we framed the narrative early, exploited their mistakes, generated hundreds of millions of media impressions, and rallied the entire movement together, including journalists, activists, parents, and political officials who have been fighting CRT.
Next step: we need to turn the screw on Attorney General Garland, who secretly colluded with outside groups to mobilize the FBI against political opponents and whose family benefits financially from CRT in schools. We must hammer him every day until he calls off the FBI dragnet.
We have the momentum: the public hates CRT, parents are mobilized nationwide, the NSBA is in shambles, the DOJ is on the ropes. We must press forward with all of our strength, to protect parents from political suppression and protect kids from state-sanctioned racism. Let's go!
We are building the most sophisticated political movement in America, rallying scholars, journalists, activists, and parents to defeat critical race theory and lay siege to the new ideological regime. Free newsletter here: christopherrufo.com/crt

The fight against critical race theory is reaching a crescendo. My colleagues at the @ManhattanInst have created some incredible resources for parents and policymakers. Let's review.🧵
First, the great @JamesRCopland has created the gold standard for state legislation, designing a bill that promotes transparency, gives parents an opt-out, and protects students against race essentialism and compelled speech.

Second, @CharlesFLehman has released this toolkit for parents, defining the key terms of critical race theory, explaining how parents can get organized, and providing specific action items for success.

SCOOP: @Walmart has launched a critical race theory training program that denounces the United States as a "white supremacy system" and teaches white hourly-wage workers that they are guilty of "white supremacy thinking" and "internalized racial superiority."

Buckle up.🧵
Walmart launched the program with the Racial Equity Institute in 2018 and has trained more than 1,000 employees on the core principles of critical race theory, including "intersectionality," "internalized racial oppression,"and "white anti-racist development."
The program begins with the claim that the United States is a "white supremacy system," designed by white Europeans for maintaining "white skin access to power and privilege." Whites are thus subjected to "racist conditioning" that indoctrinates them into "white supremacy."

SCOOP: @TerryMcAuliffe claims that critical race theory has "never been taught in Virginia," but I've obtained a memo from the State Superintendent directly promoting CRT, calling it "an important analytic tool" for addressing "power and privilege" in all Virginia schools.
And here's another one: the Virginia Department of Education is currently promoting an initiative called "anti-racism in education," which features the critical race guru Ibram X. Kendi and explicitly deriving their definitions from "critical race theory."

This all began in 2015, when @TerryMcAuliffe was Virginia governor and initiated the first documented statewide Department of Education training program on "critical race theory." It's expanded through the Northam administration—and must be stopped.

LMAO: The AAPF, the leading critical race theory activist organization, has created a strategic plan to mobilize left-wing media and K-12 teachers against me, @ConceptualJames, @AsraNomani, and others.

We have them on the defensive and they are flailing.
It's quite interesting: in the guidebook, critical race theory founder Kimberlé Crenshaw admits that CRT "originated in law schools," but was adopted by "K-12 teachers" and applied to the public school curriculum.
The guide is filled with the hysterical language of the Left: "disinformation," "McCarthyism," "January 6," "boogeyman," "Steve Bannon," "alt-right," "Big Lie," "Koch brothers," "fringe element," "extremist," "voter suppression," "right-wing attacks."

Not a sign of confidence.

BREAKING: Attorney General Merrick Garland has instructed the FBI to mobilize against parents who oppose critical race theory in public schools, citing "threats."

The letter follows the National School Board Association's request to classify protests as "domestic terrorism."
The Biden administration is rapidly repurposing federal law enforcement to target political opposition.

They want to reclassify dissent as "disinformation" and "domestic terrorism," justifying an unprecedented intervention, both directly and in partnership with tech companies.
Neither the Attorney General's memo nor the full Justice Department press release cites any significant, credible threat.

This is a blatant suppression tactic, designed to dissuade citizens from participating in the democratic process at school boards.

The public school system is not a "free marketplace of ideas"; it's a state-run monopoly with compulsory power over children.

Voters and state legislators should be the ultimate authority over public schools—not the teachers unions and permanent bureaucracy.
Even under the most stringent libertarian philosophy, monopoly conditions justify, even demand, intervention.

If public schools are promoting race essentialism, collective guilt, and state-sanctioned racism, voters are absolutely right to restrict it.
Libertarians support school choice, which is a noble long-term goal.

In the meantime, however, we must make decisions within the current paradigm, in which public schools control 90 percent of K-12 education.

Prohibiting state-sanctioned racism is the bare minimum.
