Last Friday night, Pres. Biden released a ridiculous statement saying he will delay enforcement of the JFK Records Act until Dec. 15. The CIA has annulled a law passed unanimously by Congress. It is a proverbial 'smoking gun:' evidence of complicity. @AmandiOnAir A #JFK thread:
We are not in the realm of theory but of fact. The CIA is concealing material evidence in the murder of the 35th president. I want to talk about the political context of this sinister development and identify the redacted ('smoking') files which obscure our view of Nov. 22, 1963.
First a story: In March 1964, the Warren Commission learned that CIA had some 3 dozen documents about supposed assassin Lee Oswald which they had failed to share with the investigators for 10 weeks. DDP Dick Helms asked Jim Angleton for the docs...
...Angleton replied he wanted to "wait out" the Commission. Fifty eight years later, the CIA is saying the same thing: let's wait out those who want the truth. But this time the White House sends the CIA's message with insults. 1) the Covid dog at my homework, 2) Let's make no
"hasty decisions," says Biden on behalf of Agency that has had 29 years to release these records; and 3) We're delaying disclosure out of 'respect' for JFK anniversary of 11/22--as if the citizenry that wants the truth is disrespecting the memory of JFK. My hasty conclusion?
The CIA's actions are brazen, arrogant, cunning, and desperate. Which is not to say they won't succeed. Biden ordered the release of 9/11 documents. "20 years is long enough," he said correctly. If 20 years is long enough, 58 is more than enough. Not for CIA.
The Agency seeks eternal impunity for the malfeasance of certain CIA personnel in the death of the 35th president. Like who you ask? We'll get to names/details but the political context matters. Biden is weak, under assault from an authoritarian movement. He needs CIA more..
than they need him. Presidents come and go. CIA is forever. CIA officials today understand the last of the JFK files, if disclosed, would damage the Agency's credibility/integrity. So they have said, we will not obey the law. Biden backs them to the hilt. Give the CIA credit.
They are nothing if not consistent. Since the day of JFK's death, their response to legitimate questions has been deception, deceit, and delay. The 3 D's are on display now. The intentional nullification of the law is the Smoking Gun No.1
Confirmation of malicious intent evident in Smoking Gun No. 1 is found in the JFK files that the CIA (and the Pentagon) are concealing. These include the unedited recordings from Air Force One on 11/22/63; files of CIA propaganda operations involving accused assassin Oswald; and
perhaps surprisingly, redacted documents related to the Watergate scandal. Huh? "What's Watergate go to do with JFK?" you ask. That's a very good question that Langley is artfully--and shamelessly--dodging. (Documents upon request.)
Those who argue that the CIA has nothing to hide--the really 'smart' people like Cass Sunstein & Chris Matthews & Noam Chomsky & senior editors at Washington Post and NYT--need to ask themselves. If the CIA has nothing to hide on JFK, why do they hide it in plain view w/insults?
Because they are threatened. We can ID 25 secret USG records, known to exist, that will dramatically clarify the story of 11/22, if released. I'm no lawyer but IMO certain senior CIA officials--they know who they are--are obstructing Congress by blocking their release.
I could be wrong, of course. The point of the JFK Records Act was to give the American people their own history. The CIA is saying, "No, you can't have your history. We control it for our own purposes. And the President approves."
What to do now is a question I can't answer. Like a lot of people, I believed a sensible fact-based, law-based approach to JFK's assassination could clarify a terrible story. Now, when it comes to JFK's murder, the law simply does not apply. The CIA has impunity. And when Biden
goes, they will still have impunity, perhaps on behalf of an authoritarian. Harry Truman refused to create a CIA saying he did not want to create an American Gestapo. He changed his mind under pressures of the Cold War. After 11/22/63 Truman changed his mind
again & called for abolition of the CIA. So did Pat Moynihan. So did Bernie Sanders. To no avail. The CIA is still with us, an incipient American Gestapo, still hiding the truth about JFK. The smoking gun is Biden's subservient letter & the taboo JFK files it suppresses.

I am not conversant in the details of RFK's assassination to the degree necessary to comment on what happened in the pantry on June 4, 1968. But I do know a lot of the reporters involved. Rather than offer my opinion, I will add two facts. A #SirhanSirhan thread
I know David Talbot as a good friend, a prodigious reporter on the subject. I trust him implicitly. Lisa Pease is also a friend, sharp in her commentary, but it was good research, not harsh words, is what got her findings about Dag Hammerskold’s death before the UN. #SirhanSirhan
Dan Moldea, my go-to guy on organized crime stories, is immersed in RFK story. He also hosts a bibulous annual banquet for impecunious Washington writers. As for Shane O'Sullivan, I have met him a couple of times and corresponded with him occasionally. #SirhanSirhan
