I know I’m repeating myself, BUT I LOVE YOU BLACK NASHVILLE
This is my Uber driver. He wasn’t sure about where he was dropping me SO HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR & WALKED THE BLOCK UNTIL HE FOUND THE HOUSE. Once he found it, I released him with many thanks. “I will wait until you are inside”, he says. I’ve had marriages with less care.
This man has googled me, watched all the YouTube content, brought me pig feet and would, I believe, kill you over me.
I cannot show you the other stuff but it’s equally good and noteworthy. ❤️
I don’t know what’s happening but I like it and everyone should take notes.

While @phontigallo is talking about the rap game, this is true of any creative endeavor. If you do not have leverage, then any fiduciary is just there to explain the big words to you.
@phontigallo I get the question about needing an agent a lot. And I always ask, "well, do you need the publishing contract?" if you need it to, you know, keep your job then you will really don't have a ton of leverage. What we really need is a Zoom type package for contracts in his mid-tier
Also, hiring an entertainment lawyer and securing certain types of representation is a pact. You are promising to work enough to keep those folks fed. Is that consistent with your goals?
Mind you, I have only ever had white women believe this and espouse it with great passion. Meanwhile, non-white women seem to be abducted a lot but I don’t hear black women passing along urban legends about it. The occasional “be safe” meme, sure.
I told one coworker that if “Mexican gangs” were grabbing blonde white women wholesale from the Hop-in, it would probably be on the news. She wasn’t amused.
One thing about being Black online is that every interest group eventually becomes a dating website. The gig is figuring out where the group is on the cycle.
It’s something like: interest group forms — glow up —- mod wars — the reclamation — the image gallery — the “who pays” debates — mod wars II — reverse migration — brunch meetups — dating website. I need to write this down.
I think it’s because the Black church and chocolate cities are struggling. And also because of photo filters.
I’ve mentioned my friend explaining the world to me this way and how much it shifted my perspective on people. Social media obviously heightens the effect but all analog media did it to a certain degree. To many people, you are just a minor character in their life’s movie.
I have been on the receiving end of people who fixated on me as a character in their movie. Not the mundane microcelebrity stuff which I obviously developed and accept. I mean the personal stuff. It is NOT fun or flattering.
And all of it sucks but far and away the most aggressive and persistent has been from white women. Not commenting on the story at this point but the phenomenon of being the target of someone’s narcissistic script.
