White supremacists love to say that we have to "get beyond it," or "we need to move on," yet a core part of their lives is reenacting Civil War battles and characters, singing songs, and retelling stories from that time because it makes them feel good about their heritage.
It's part of their ethos, mythology and self-esteem. Then if they are so wedded to their past, the question is why should anyone else move on when they clearly haven't?
And if revelling in their history is so good for them, considered a birthright, and a legacy to be passed down to their children, why is it so inconceivable, let alone unreasonable, that that same history can make others remember pain, trauma, and horror?
America must stop accepting the BS racist, self-serving excuses, rationalizations, justifications, and confront them directly to reconcile their inconsistencies.

In order for there to have been a Civil War, a critical mass of southern whites had to buy into the notion that the war was righteous and necessary, even if they didn't own slaves. Otherwise, why die for a cause for which you had no vested interest?
Logically speaking, if they didn't own slaves, then nothing was being demanded of the southern citizenry by the north that required them to change. So either they agreed with the position of the wealth, landed, slave-owning gentry that it was the god-given right of...
...rich people to own slaves, or they agreed with the same people that the culture and social hierarchy of the south was predicated on white supremacy. As such, in either case, white slaveowners and non-slaveowners both benefited from the system and the institution.

One of the things I've been hearing about the need to discuss racism is that people on both sides need to possess empathy. in a strictly mechanical sense that may be true, but for the people who have the history of oppression predicated on...
...abuse, violence, obedience, subjugation, deprivation, and compliance what is the real purpose an benefit of empathy for the individuals who have never experienced those thins and many other horrors as a function of what they were born?
The history of black people in the nation has generally been one of needing to understand and empathize with others who perceived themselves as superior simply as a survival mechanism.

The standard democratic retort "but republicans are much worse" doesn't hold water. When folks don't get what they need and they're oppressed when the democrats have power - regardless who's to blame, democratic oppression and negligence doesn't look any better than republicans'.
The democrats have been getting around to addressing those issues for years, decades, and somehow they always wind up on the back burner. And black voters have been loyal and patient, no doubt to a fault.

Kyrsten Sinema may be beginning to crumble regarding Biden's agenda, but it's too little, too late. Now that the agenda has been largely whittled away and is a shell of it former self, she knows like her constituents know that she didn't begin to give until her donors were happy.
It's almost certain that she will get a primary challenge. And, no matter how much donor money she gets, that will not make up for lost support. She has betrayed her voters, and everyone in America who needed her to be honorable and forthright. That bridge is now burnt.
None of her actions have been about the public good, but about her personal benefit. Her actions and those of Manchin have made the chances of retaining the majorities and the work required to do it exponentially harder. She and Manchin have acted in complete bad faith.

The republican party will never negotiate or be conciliatory. Their bitterness, revanchism, and hate won't let them. They are a diminishing demographic that feels mortally threatened, believe they are the only truly entitled, and that this nation owes them something.
Therefore, they will seize what they can, however they can, and not give up without a fight. If necessary, they will destroy everything in the process. None of this is about policy for them. It's about perpetual power and control.
And for years - decades - we have known this time was coming, yet we are surprised, shocked and unprepared. Therefore, the sooner the democrats recognize that the "business as usual mode won't cut it," and that we are locked in an internecine struggle for existence, the better.

The same white supremacy, mendacity, greed, cruelty, and power hungry madness that drives racism, spread of #COVID19, suppression of women's rights, and voter nullification also drives global warming and the sabotage of our planet.
It's the same people, with the same imperialist, colonialist, oppressive mindset, with terror in their hearts and minds of their shrinking demography, who are wrecking havoc and committing evil for their own benefit.
It odd how the people who claim to be most averse to "globalism" for the benefit of the masses to lift all board are just fine with it as long as they can second and subjugate governments like vassals, steal and horde resources, retain power, wealth, and racial superiority...
