On the eve of the #TreeOfLife anniversary, @GOPLeader Kevin McCarthy just went on Fox News to spread fear & lies about a migrant caravan.
This is the same tactic the right used in 2018 — the same conspiracy theory that led to 11 Jews being killed in Pittsburgh three years ago.
Three years ago, a chorus of lies and conspiracy theories incited a series of bombs sent to media outlets and political figures, and culminated in the deadliest antisemitic massacre in our country's history.
The man who committed the attack on the #TreeOfLife building was motivated by replacement theory — the conspiracy theory that falsely claims Jews are bringing non-white immigrants to the United States.
It's the same lie pundits & politicians are pushing.
We are distraught to hear these same dangerous white nationalist talking points again being spread by pundits and politicians on the eve of the third anniversary of the shooting at the Tree of Life - Or L'Simcha building in Pittsburgh.
From Charlottesville to Pittsburgh to El Paso, we have seen time and time again how fear-mongering about immigrants has motivated white nationalist violence across the country.
We know all too well that some lies spill blood and some words echo as gunshots.
After all we've been through as a country, the willingness of some politicians to whip up hysteria about immigrant caravans and the 'replacement' conspiracy theory in order to hold onto power is unconscionable, and they must be held accountable.
Leaders who blame immigrants for hard times are trying to manufacture division and fear to grow their own power.
They hope to build a country only for themselves, no matter who gets hurt — but we refuse to let that happen.
By joining together with our neighbors across lines of difference, we can shut down the engines of fear and build a country where every person can live with freedom, safety, and belonging no matter how we pray, what we look like, or where we come from.

Three years ago today, a man driven by conspiracies and lies took up arms in order to kill Jewish people and stop new immigrants, murdering eleven beloved community members at the #TreeOfLife - Or L’Simcha building in Pittsburgh.
The lies haven’t stopped.
From Charlottesville to Pittsburgh to Poway to El Paso, we’ve seen too often that some lies spill blood and some words echo as gunshots.
This is why we must continue the fight against white nationalism and antisemitism in all forms.
Three years after the #TreeOfLife massacre, the same antisemitic, anti-immigrant lie which motivated the gunman is still being repeated by pundits and politicians.
They’re using it to manufacture division and fear to grow their own power, no matter who gets hurt.
By prioritizing this child welfare provider’s religious beliefs & allowing this provider to discriminate, the Court has in effect called into question whether LGBTQ children’s needs will be met by families who are willing, able and qualified to provide that care.
While we are relieved this decision was narrowly focused on the facts of this particular case, we cannot be complacent.
We know too well that those who advocate for "religious liberty" to be a blanket license to discriminate will not stop here.
To address antisemitic violence, we need to confront those responsible for using antisemitism to manufacture fear & division.
We shouldn't legalize definitions that can serve as diversions from threats we face or be used to attack free speech of activists & entire communities.
We need a multi-pronged approach that uses the existing tools of government, as well as structural reforms that ensure a thriving & inclusive democracy where every single one of us is safe, no matter our race, class, or faith.
In California, longtime progressive champions & Bend the Arc PAC endorsees @BLeeForCongress and @MarkTakano were re-elected, as were @katieporteroc and @MikeLevin, freshmen who flipped & held historically red seats. (THREAD)
In NY, voters chose to re-elect longtime progressive champions & Bend the Arc PAC endorsees @RepYvetteClarke and @JerryNadler. We know that they will continue to fight to protect immigrant communities, expand access to health care, and prioritize economic relief for families.
In NJ, voters re-elected Bend the Arc PAC endorsee @AndyKimNJ to continue to serve the district he grew up in! Rep. Kim made made history in 2018 as the 1st Korean American Democrat in Congress.
