If you're relying on policy changes to alter the global issues that the supply chain faces, you're going to drown. Do what the American oilmen are doing. Find something on the market that could work, retool it, and make it your own. While costly it may save your business.
If you look at low-margin microchips not being available you'll see that industry has shifted to what was on market (higher tech microchips) and integrated the cost into the price. They are now getting a premium for the product and found a way to keep product on the shelves.
While this isn't great for the consumer who eats the cost, it means that the industries that rely on those products being on the shelves can survive another season. Forestalls unemployment. Perhaps long enough for low-margin chips to be available again. Its an innovative stopgap.
No one knows whether the Just In Time supply chain is going to ever come back online the way it was before March 2020. But adjusting now to the current reality will be to your benefit as both a consumer and a business owner. Be Proactive.
