New: He was one of the most malevolent characters in DC on 1/6. The extent of his extremism has gone unreported, until now.

Meet Matthew Purse. He dressed as press to storm the Capitol & accost reporters. Now we know he runs a white nationalist site. huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
Purse was arrested earlier this year on charges related to storming of the Capitol. He told the AP he was in the Capitol as “part of a legitimate news org,” which he declined to name. “The record will show I was not there in any illegal capacity,” he said huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
Here is a picture of him in the Capitol on 1/6, per court docs. As you can see, he dressed up as press. huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
But Purse was in fact one of the media's biggest tormentors on 1/6. Footage of him from that day is a lasting reminder of the vicious contempt for the press among the MAGA faithful on display at the Capitol, and at the heart of any fascist movement. huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
Here, for example, is Purse accosting @giltamary, a reporter for channel 10 in Israel, with anti-Semitic slurs.

Note Purse mouthing "The Goyim know" at the end. That's a reference to a neo-Nazi meme which depicts Jews as evil puppet masters.

And here he is accosting Danish reporter Lillian Kretz:
He also harassed a reporter from Baltimore', calling him “lugenpresse," which means “lying press” in German, a term most commonly used by the Nazis and Adolf Hitler to discredit reporters. It's been revived as a slur among the modern far right in Germany. huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
And here's a vid of him giving a speech on the Capitol steps after the attack.

“First of all, mission accomplished, Patriots,” he said. “History has been made here today... You occupied the building! You caused them to stop what they were doing!"
Purse's real ID was unknown for months after the insurrection. He had introduced himself as "Marc" throughout the day. Online sleuths took to calling him #MrExtraCreepy.

Then the sleuths — @SeditionSleuth, @ne0ndistraction — figured out he was Purse. huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
More importantly, they figured out he was running a white nationalist website called Happening Center.

The site, which mostly hosted livestreams, embraces outright neo-Nazism and praises mass killers. huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…
Anyway, the story undercuts the revisionist right-wing narrative that the rioters were but a group of bumbling MAGA tourists, as opposed to what they were: the vanguard of a dangerous, racist mass movement hellbent on destroying democracy. Pls read: huffpost.com/entry/matthew-…

New: An obit for a rich, evil man.

William Regnery II, a reclusive multimillionaire who used his inherited family fortune to finance vile fascist groups in the hopes of one day forming an American whites-only ethnostate, has died.

He was 80 yrs old.

huffpost.com/entry/william-…
“William Regnery’s sordid influence was felt from the deadly Charlottesville Unite the Right rally to the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol,” @TarsoLuisRamos told me.

Regnery is often credited with being one of the main moneymen behind the "alt-right."

huffpost.com/entry/william-…
You might recognize his last name. That's because his extended family amassed its fortune from the influential right-wing publishing house, @Regnery.

NEW: Benjamin Welton uses pen names to write for white nationalist sites, generating interest from major far right figures. He’s also a teacher, @BU_Tweets PhD student, & freelance writer for major media.

Today he got fired from a Mass. elementary school huffpost.com/entry/benjamin…
“No mercy for our enemies. Do not weep, for they are not human,” he wrote in March, seven months into his job as an elementary school teacher. “Treat those who want to abolish ‘whiteness’ with the same venom if not more. They deserve medieval punishments.” huffpost.com/entry/benjamin…
In this since-deleted pic of Welton on the school's site, you can see “Dollfuß (1934)” on the chalkboard — a likely reference to Engelbert Dollfuss, an Austrian fascist politician who served as the country’s chancellor until his assassination in 1934. huffpost.com/entry/benjamin…

New: After @TuckerCarlson doubled down on promoting the “great replacement” conspiracy theory — which has inspired multiple bloody pogroms — white nationalists were gleeful at what they saw as a mass radicalization event courtesy the folks at @FoxNews.

huffpost.com/entry/white-na…
Nick Fuentes, the Holocaust-denying 'America First' leader who attended the Charlottesville rally & helped lead insurrection, exclaimed that Tucker 'redpilled 4 million people"

White nationalist website VDARE gushed over Tucker like a proud parent.

huffpost.com/entry/white-na…
“Great segment mentioning unmentionable reality of demographic replacement,” tweeted Kevin MacDonald, one of neo-Nazis' most beloved authors. “Doesn’t explicitly mention Whites but obviously implied.” huffpost.com/entry/white-na…

NEW: The military, since 1/6, claims to be confronting extremism in its ranks. But according to a new @HuffPost investigation, a prominent white nationalist just graduated boot camp.

Will Airman Shawn McCaffrey be allowed to stay in the military? huffpost.com/entry/extremis…
For years McCaffrey has hosted a racist and anti-Semitic podcast featuring friendly interviews with some of the most infamous fascists in America, including Richard Spencer and Andrew Anglin.

He was also, at one time, a key member of Identity Evropa. huffpost.com/entry/extremis…
The evidence of his life as a white nationalist was only a Google search away, & he even got thrown off volunteering duties for Andrew Yang’s presidential campaign in 2019 due to his affiliations.

The Great Replacement conspiracy theory is explicitly white nationalist & elitist, and Tucker — a frozen food fortune heir who went to private New England boarding school, then Trinity, & is now a millionaire making propaganda at behest of billionaires — is definition of elite
anyway, if you didn't know what JD was all about before, now you do
can't get over how gross this is

New: I took a closer look at how a sitting US congressman, @RepGosar, gave a keynote speech at a white nationalist “groyper” conference one week ago, & has since faced little repercussions for doing so.

Is he going get away with this?
huffpost.com/entry/paul-gos…
“Great meeting today with Congressman Gosar,” tweeted Nick Fuentes, a 22-year-old Holocaust denier who once compared Jews killed in Nazi gas chambers to cookies baking in an oven. “America is truly uncancelled.” huffpost.com/entry/paul-gos…
It's hard to overstate how extreme & loathsome Fuentes and his Groyper Army truly are, and why it's an emergency that a US congressman would give them his blessing
