PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT – TRANSMISSION VENUE OF CONCERN
We have been notified of at least 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 who either attended the Tea Gardens Hotel, Bondi while infectious or may have acquired their infection at the venue on 23 October, 2021.
People who attended the Tea Gardens Hotel, Bondi on 23 October from 7:30pm until closing are considered casual contacts and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received; people who attended earlier in the day should monitor for symptoms.
NSW Health has individually contacted people who attended the venue at the times when an infectious person was there.
Casual contacts should get tested, even if they have had a test recently. If you receive a negative result, please continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms appear, get tested and isolate again.
This advice must be followed, even if you are fully vaccinated.
The Hotel has been referred to the Office of Liquor and Gaming to review compliance with COVID-Safe measures.

Sadly, we are today reporting the death of a woman in her 70s from south-western Sydney who died at Concord Hospital. She was not vaccinated.
We express our sincere condolences to her loved ones.

A man in his 40s from Newcastle died at John Hunter Hospital. He had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health issues.
A man in his 60s from western Sydney died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health issues.

A woman in her 90s died at the Tarrawanna aged care facility, north of Wollongong, where she acquired her infection. She was not vaccinated and is the fourth death linked to an outbreak at this facility.

People who attended this gym at certain times on 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 or 25 October 2021 are considered casual contacts and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

One person was in their 30s, one person was in their 70s, and one person was in their 80s.
Two people were from Sydney’s inner west and one person was from western Sydney.
Two people were not vaccinated, and one person had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine shortly before testing positive. This case, a man in his 30s from Sydney’s inner west, died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
