New statement out from the armorer on Alec Baldwin’s film Rust, she says she has no idea where the live ammo came from and she blames production for an unsafe working environment. Alec was a producer so that means that she’s seemingly blaming him and the other producers.

My personal take having directed these types of gun battles is that 3 people have some level of culpability. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed the armorer, Assistant Director Dave Halls and Alec Baldwin. All 3 had a critical duty to check the gun. All 3 failed to do the bare minimum.

Lastly, as a big 2nd amendment advocate and a man who carries regularly I know that you ALWAYS treat a gun as if it’s loaded until you’ve checked it. As the person using it Alec had the highest duty to check the gun. Not doing so is gross negligence and it resulted in a tragedy.

I’ve directed many scenes with guns. We have safety meetings every time a gun is on set. The entire crew present has the chance to examine the gun. If blanks are used, they’re supposed to be checked too. I could go into further detail but suffice to say, this should NEVER happen!

I would be surprised if this doesn’t end with manslaughter charges for one if not two people. The person responsible for the faulty blanks (if that’s what was fired) and the person who shot the victims. Alec as an actor has safety protocols that if adhered, should prevent this.

I can’t stress enough how seriously guns are taken on set. It takes a very lazy set, breaking protocols with seriously weak leadership for a shooting to take place. It’s not normal. Decades ago it was relaxed. Today it comes with close to the most serious safety protocols on set.

Meet Grace. She's a 16 year old girl who's showing more courage than most men right now. She's refusing to comply with the mask mandate her Wyoming school board is trying to force. She was fined and arrested. Here's her arrest. She's a hero.

They literally did an entire building lockdown to try to guilt her into wearing a mask. They try scare tactics but to their surprise, nothing works. Grace just respectfully says "no" ever single time they ask her to put it on. She’s not backing down. Courage is contagious.
