In my sentence I was not using "pet" as a noun, as has been assumed, which would have meant I was referring to EBCI as domesticated animals.

I used "pet" as an adjective, a descriptor of the noun "tribe". The definition of "pet" as an adjective in the context I used it is completely different than the definition of the noun.
The EBCI are 100% the favorite or most preferred tribe of the Atlanta baseball team because it is their rubber stamp that Atlanta uses to shield themselves from the criticism of their gross name and even more gross tomahawk chop and chant.
I can see why fans jumped to that incredibly false conclusion though.

That assumption also allows for fans to dismiss the very real issue with the team name and all that goes with it as well as give them an excuse to continue to disrespect Natives because to them a game means more than Indigenous people.
The ironic thing is in their zeal to invalidate anything I say they actually proved my point.
