A trustworthy source working for a well-known OEM shared some interesting info with me regarding their employer's future plans, including giga (or mega) castings: 1/
1/ OEM acknowledges that having both ICE and EVs is a DISadvantage compared to pure-EV plays such as Tesla. Converting old factories and unloading ICE legacy slows the transition and adds cost
2. Tesla is not even considered as competition as they are already so far ahead, and unencumbered by ICE legacy also free to run

TESLA BUILDING AN ENERGY TRADING TEAM
True story: I have extensive experience in Resource Allocation Algorithms/Systems, so several years ago I was offered to be chief engineer for developing a novel energy distribution system 1/ cleantechnica.com/2021/09/09/tesโฆ
2/ I started learning about the project (which had already started along with a subcontractor) and the problem at hand.
Real interesting project!
Client was a foreign utility company which supplied power to lots of varied customers - from retail households to large industry
3/ They had to balance loads against powerplants of various types - some costly and slow to spool up and down, others with minimal control over output etc.
This was a new field, real interesting. Before I gave my answer, something happened.
Barely slept tonight after talking on phone with the brightest person I personally know. She DWARFS my INTELLIGENCE, looks far ahead
WE TALKED TESLA AI DAY,
TAKEN INTO FUTURE
Right now I gotta start work so I'll be brief, but gotta unload this 1/
2/ Starting with things she said b4 (some I showed here)
A. AI Day is a GAMECHANGER
B. Not just for Tesla. Will be REMEMBERED IN HUMAN HISTORY as THE DAY THAT STARTED IT ALL
(Redhead pic her way to get attention of her non-tech FB friends who didn't respond when she talked b4)
3/ C. She called Tesla CHOAM. From Frank Herbert's Dune, the Biggest company in the universe.
I asked how big,
2x APPLE?
4x?
She answered nervously that more like 10x, 100x, 1000x it's UNLIMITED ACTUALLY.
WE CAN'T GRASP HOW BIG!
A WONDERFUL NIKOLA-TESLA RELATED STORY YOU NEVER HEARD ๐โก๏ธ
My favorite professor during my undergraduate studies in Aerospace-Engineering was an extremely old Serbian gentleman who taught us 1st year Physics (Electricity).
He seemed a million years old. From another era. 1/
2/ 90% of the students enrolled to another professor - a young hotshot that wrote a textbook on the topic and taught how to pass the exam.
They said the oldtimer "wasted time telling stories".
My friend and I stayed with the old professor exactly for these stories.
3/ Example story:
One day he came to class wearing a sweater - pretty weird during springtime.
He stood with a mischievous smile on his face and told us since topic was static electricity, he came equipped for an experiment
He then rubbed film on his tummy, happy like a child

4. The devil is in the details, and so is the god. It's an out-of-the-box idea, which should be checked.
- If requires major changes, drop it.
- If moderate changes - HUGE HUGE gains there
3/ 5. "HUGE HUGE gains" are lower resistance (=more range, less cooling needed), plate cooling possible, faster charge and discharge, no tab-welding so faster production and less defected batteries
6. NOT suggesting changing size or going dry electrode. These require new line
