Starting my non-aviation journey to @cop26. First leg on @SW_Help 🚂
I can’t honestly say it’s starting very well 😬
The leg of the train journey from London to @COP26 is continuing to be a little on the problematic side …
For anyone who cares for an update on the @LNER@AvantiWestCoast will-we-get-to-COP26-before-it-finishes saga…
We’ve got as far as Doncaster.
Lovely place, but I just calculated only 40% of the way to Edinburgh 🏴
I hope getting a worldwide climate agreement is easier than this
Location status: York.
This is like being on a real train.
That moves at a reasonable speed between stations 😳😳 @LNER
@lner Pleaae pass on our thanks to train manager James, who’s been nothing but polite, courteous, friendly, informative and an all-round star on this much delayed journey to @COP26. He’s done the company proud.
1430 KX to Edinburgh 🚆
It happened. We got here 🏴

NEW: The Queen has addressed the world leaders at @COP26 in a recorded video message.
She said: “we none of us will live forever” and “the time for words has now moved to the time for action.” #cop26
Queen to @COP26: “Of course, the benefits of such actions will not be there to enjoy for all of us here today: we none of us will live forever. But we are doing this not for ourselves but for our children and our children’s children, and those who will follow in their footsteps”.
Queen urged politicians to make history: “It is the hope of many that the legacy of this summit – written in history books yet to be printed – will describe you as the leaders who did not pass up the opportunity; and that you answered the call of those future generations.” #cop26
It’s entirely possibly that the accreditation queue for @COP26 will take longer than the train journey to Scotland 🤦🏼♂️
The Glaswegian north-westerly wind has already proved too much for the @COP26 banner on the banks of the River Clyde 💨
(Hopefully not a metaphor for the conference 😬)
It might not be long for the world that @COP26 banner.
Another tether has given up 😬 #bannerwatch

Powerful speech from the Duchess of Cornwall tonight on the epidemic of violence against women.
Camilla speaks how “one women is killed by a man every three days. Sarah Everard, Sabina Nessa, Wenjing Lin, Geetika Goyal and Bennylyn Burke are names which…must never be forgotten.”
Camilla also said spoke about the shocking rape figures: 144,000 women were victims of rape or attempted rape … This equates to roughly 16 of the most serious sexual offences every hour. Sixteen every hour.” #ViolenceAgainstWomen
Camilla also said survivors of violence and sex assaults need support to feel shameless.
She said “rapists are not born, they are constructed. And it takes an entire community…to dismantle the lies, words & actions that foster a culture in which sexual assault is seen as normal”
JUST ANNOUNCED: The Queen has been forced to pull out of @COP26
Buckingham Palace says she has "regretfully decided that she will no longer travel to Glasgow" for the world leaders' reception on Monday.
She is "disappointed not to attend" but will deliver a video message
The Queen's decision to pull out of the big UN summit on such an important issue as climate change is a blow.
She was a big draw for the world leaders.
We are told that she hopes no other leader will use her absence as a reason not to attend 🌍
The Queen is following doctor's orders to rest and do only light duties.
The video message to delegates on Monday will be filmed later this week.
The Queen recently expressed her own "irritation" that many world leaders had yet to commit to attending @COP26
For the second time this year, the Met Police decide to take no further action on claims about Prince Andrew.
Officers reviewed the matter after the Prince’s accuser Virginia Giuffre filed her lawsuit in August claiming she had been sexually assaulted in London in 2001.
Full story on Met Police confirming they will not make any further criminal investigations into the claims made against Prince Andrew (it’s the third time they’ve looked into it). Here 👇 itv.com/news/2021-10-1…
A source close to Prince Andrew responds to the Met Police decision: “It comes as no surprise that the Met Police have confirmed that, having reviewed the sex assault claims against The Duke for a third time, they are taking no further action.”
