NEW: The Queen has addressed the world leaders at @cop26 in a recorded video message.
She said: “we none of us will live forever” and “the time for words has now moved to the time for action.”
#cop26
Queen to @cop26: “Of course, the benefits of such actions will not be there to enjoy for all of us here today: we none of us will live forever. But we are doing this not for ourselves but for our children and our children’s children, and those who will follow in their footsteps”.
Queen urged politicians to make history: “It is the hope of many that the legacy of this summit – written in history books yet to be printed – will describe you as the leaders who did not pass up the opportunity; and that you answered the call of those future generations.” #cop26
In her video, played at the Leaders’ Reception at #cop26, the Queen spoke of her long service: “For more than seventy years, I have been lucky to meet and to know many of the world’s great leaders. And I have perhaps come to understand a little about what made them special.”
Queen: “What leaders do for their people today is government and politics. But what they do for the people of tomorrow -that is statesmanship. I, for one, hope that this conference will be one of those rare occasions where everyone will have the chance to rise above the politics”
The Queen had a photo of Prince Philip on the desk behind her.
She told world leaders how the “impact of the environment on human progress was a subject close to the heart of my dear late husband, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.”
#cop26
The Queen spoke of her family:
“It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet, lives on through the work of our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William.  I could not be more proud of them.”
Queen said:“The world has the chance to join in the shared objective of creating a safer, stabler future for…the planet.
None of us underestimates the challenges ahead: but history has shown that when nations come together in common cause, there is always room for hope”

It’s entirely possibly that the accreditation queue for @cop26 will take longer than the train journey to Scotland 🤦🏼‍♂️
The Glaswegian north-westerly wind has already proved too much for the @cop26 banner on the banks of the River Clyde 💨
(Hopefully not a metaphor for the conference 😬)
It might not be long for the world that @COP26 banner.
Another tether has given up 😬 #bannerwatch

Starting my non-aviation journey to @cop26. First leg on ⁦@SW_Help⁩ 🚂
I can’t honestly say it’s starting very well 😬
The leg of the train journey from London to @COP26 is continuing to be a little on the problematic side …
For anyone who cares for an update on the @LNER @AvantiWestCoast will-we-get-to-COP26-before-it-finishes saga…
We’ve got as far as Doncaster.
Lovely place, but I just calculated only 40% of the way to Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I hope getting a worldwide climate agreement is easier than this

Camilla also said spoke about the shocking rape figures: 144,000 women were victims of rape or attempted rape … This equates to roughly 16 of the most serious sexual offences every hour. Sixteen every hour.”
#ViolenceAgainstWomen
Camilla also said survivors of violence and sex assaults need support to feel shameless.
She said “rapists are not born, they are constructed. And it takes an entire community…to dismantle the lies, words & actions that foster a culture in which sexual assault is seen as normal”
