Oddly enough China's zero COVID quarantine policy is more opposed by Western China Watchers than the Chinese themselves. Rather than a sign of the boundless Grace they have for the Chinese people, it is a sign the quarantine measures that work for COVID also work on other viral
vectors that are less biological and more ideological. India as usual serves as a useful precautionary counterpoint. It's elite classes have been completely sublimated by American political currents it's not even funny. Adopting mismatched economic policies for a third world
country devised for a malfunctioning first world one was dumb enough, but now they are adopting the same culture war battles that are totally irrelevant to the welfare of 99.99% of Indians. How this came to be is because of horizontal transmission via elite emulation of American
norms and behaviors from the professional managerial classes. A chain of transmission that the Communist Party has been fighting and has now completely severed by forcing people to quarantine for three weeks entering the country. Imprisoning every individual who starts whispering
MeToo or BLM also serves as a useful deterrent. That the gravy train of academic and activist intermingling that spreads American ideology has been interrupted by the quarantine is what the China Watchers are actually upset about and not the fact that Chinese are stuck in China.
