TY. I don’t feel election integrity has been lost. But Trump’s lies, combined w/ both parties’ failure to even try to pass a federal manual audit requirement for 2022 or even a ban on internet connectivity to voting systems in 2022, has left me a bit speechless. 1/

There are always ways to improve security & transparency, but dang it. 2/

I’m still working on my election-security book. It will be a call to action, not a post mortem. But we are in a very bad spot fighting some very entrenched and misleading narratives around election security. 3/

Whether we can dig our way out remains to be seen. I do feel that the narrative war has in some respects eclipsed the security war. We must win both. They are connected. 4/

IOW, it will be hard to make changes without shining a much brighter light on some of the faulty narratives around election security - and correcting them. 5/

One area we may still be able to make a difference is local advocacy for backup paper poll books in case checkin computers (Epollbooks) fail on Election Day. 6/

This should be a no brainer but some election officials, like @GaSecofState, want to forego backup paper poll books even though they have had problems in recent elections with e-pollbooks failing. It makes no sense at all. 7/
