Important!!! Pls read & take caution while on your Canada study/immigration journey.

Ms A just got a procedural fairness letter from IRCC accusing her of using fake employment letter & bank statement to apply for her study visa. She has 15days to defend this or face a 5 yrs ban.
When I spoke to her, she said she has sufficient funds for her studies and was doing everything well until a friend of hers suggested she employed the services of an "agent" who this friend of hers claimed was very good. The agent charged her 1.2 million naira (about 3,000 CAD).
She paid the agent in FULL because she clearly didn't know the difference btw "agent" and a "licensed Canadian immigration consultant (RCIC)". This agent manipulated all the genuine documents & information Ms A sent him for her visa application including her employment letter,

This is an important thread for those outside Canada looking to secure a job & relocate to Canada via a work visa. Read & RT

1. To apply for your work visa, you need a job offer & a positive LMIA (some jobs are LMIA exempted).

2. Applying for jobs via job website is great, but
using int'l job recruiting agencies is more effective. This is because recruitment agencies:
•know the legal market & will always have the comparative advantage when it comes to having the time, information, connections &
know-how for successful career planning & recruitment.
•are helpful to foreigners in getting a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from a Canadian employer. They also assist Canadian employers apply for LMIA which is always a bottle neck for many Canadian employers.

An alternative pathway to migrate to the UK aside the student-grad route is the UK point based immigration system for skilled workers. Here are key things to note:

1. Under this system, you must meet a specific set of requirements for which they will score points.
2. A total of 70 points is required to be able to apply via this route for a 5 year work visa(processing timeline is 3wks) after which you qualify "Indefinite Leave to Remain" (ILR), this is same as the Permanent Residence (PR) we have in Canada.
3. A job offer with a salary threshold of £25,600 is required. However, if the job offer is less than the minimum salary required, but no less than £20,480, an applicant may still be eligible if they have:
•a job offer in a specific shortage occupation
•PhD relevant to the job

Another great country to consider if you want to stay back after your study is the UK. Here are a few key things to note:

1. Int'l students with valid study visa enrolled in a recognized school from Sept 2020 are eligible for the new graduate route (post study work visa- PSW)
2. Bachelors & masters graduates are eligible for 2 & 3yrs PSW respectively

3. Int'l graduates from UK schools do not need to have job offers or an endorsement by your university to apply for the UK PSW after graduation.
4. With the PSW,you can apply for any type of job while awaiting a job that can sponsor you for a general work visa.

5. Those looking to stay longer in the UK after the expiration of their PSW will need to apply to a skilled work visa or general work visa.

Various faculty members will evaluate your statement of purpose differently. Here is a faculty scoop on how some professors at UBC, Canada evaluated statement of interest in 2021:

1. "Clear indication that one knows the field. For MA and PhD, clear purpose of research
(e.g., research questions, which can be modified later, but something concrete at this point), theoretical framework, and methodology". – Professor in Education.
2. "Interesting, creative ideas. Real world experience in something I'm interested in.

Excitement about something that I, too, am excited about. I look for evidence of intelligence, competence, and productivity". – Professor in Neuroscience

Important thread for those seeking job opportunities in Canada.

The latest labour market figures showed a total of 815,800 job openings in June, 2021. This is the highest rate of job openings since Statistics Canada began collecting data since last year.
RBC reported that the labour shortage would continue to worsen in coming months.

Remember last year, there was a new policy that allowed visitors who arrived in Canada before August 24, 2020 with valid temporary resident status to apply for an employer-specific work permit.
IRCC has since then expanded the eligibility criteria to include all visitors, regardless of when they arrived in Canada until February 28, 2022.

This is in a bid to help employers in Canada meet the increasing labour shortage and increase Canada's workforce.
