I’m creating a thread regarding all the reported issues w/ #ElectionDay in #harriscounty & why I think the elections administrator should resign or be fired: @LongoriaTx @AdrianGarciaHTX @RodneyEllis @HCPrecinct4 @TomSRamsey2 (1) these machines had just been in 2 prior elections
(2) logic and accuracy testing took nine days when it should’ve just taken one. they had two prior elections to test too. The relatively small size of this ballot dictates it should’ve actually taken just a few hours. Day-of L&A was delayed till evening due to user error.
(3) remember after the September Logic and Accuracy fiasco, the EA swore they would hire back elections employees that knew what they were doing to prevent it from happening again. This did not happen. Consequences of getting rid of good employees simply because of politics
(4) Power supply problem: apparently the chief tabulator didn’t inspect the outlets to make sure they were delivering electricity. Batteries ran down on Central count machines, and had to be reloaded when the power went out. I guess he never went to an NRG/ rodeo event?
(5) Due to these consecutive events, plus not starting timely on uploading EV & then doing it over—nothing was uploaded till nearly nine, & nothing public till 10pm election night. (This is WITH backups in place, mind you but not enough training despite two prior elections)
(6) When the Election Day presiding judges began dropping off the election equipment at NRG, many judges brought the scanner machines but NOT the actual paper ballots Many other judges brought the paper ballots but NOT the scanners. (They’d left them at the polling places.)
(7) This led to hours of delay as the missing items had to be retrieved. FOUR judges left the scanners & paper ballots at the polling places, and just went home. THIS ALSO CREATES SERIOUS CONCERNS OVER CHAIN OF CUSTODY IN THIS ELECTION. Many judges failed to print the end-of-day-
(8) … tape on the scanner which shows the number of ballots voted on that device. So the technicians had to re-boot those scanners and print out the required tapes. Nor properly close down their polling places and the equipment. As a result the “V-drives” with all the ballots…
(9) …stored electronically could not be read by the tabulator computers. This led to hours of delay, as the technicians had to re-boot the scanners, properly shut down the equipment and create a readable V-drive.
(10) Staff Attention Divided: For whatever reason, the EA had only rented the NRG space until 11:59 a.m. today. That meant that the EA had to be completely OUT of that space before noon, so the next convention/conference could begin their set-up. So while some technicians…
(11) …were dealing with the problems with the voting equipment/missing equipment, others had to be packing up to vacate the room on time. When the next piece of equipment was ready, they had to find the techs who were packing up to return to help with the ballot counting.
(12) Ultimately @HarrisVotes was seriously affected & delayed by serious incompetence, inexcusable for 3rd election w/ small ballot size. Over budget & poorly planned ($100 an hour per location w/ few voters) & many Election Day cancelled polling spots. Taxpayers deserve better
(13) reminder: when @StanStanart was 20 minutes late on posting EV results for 1 election, a political party called the @FBI to investigate for possible election tampering. Yet not a single call to have @LongoriaTx investigated for a 3 HOUR delay. #Hypocrisy #fireisabellongoria
