In an op-ed for @WSJ, @BjornLomborg argues that adapting to climate change will dramatically reduce its cost.

But adapting is not a comprehensive solution.

My response in this week’s @gzeromedia #TheRedPen.

Who to blame for the failed war in Afghanistan?

In ascending order:

4) Biden administration, for bungling planning, execution, coordination and communication of withdrawal despite having made the right strategic call on ending the war.

(1/5)
3) Trump administration, for legitimizing and strengthening the Taliban while getting nothing in return, putting Biden between a rock and a hard place.

(2/5)
2) Obama administration, for not having the courage and leadership to end the war after killing Bin Laden in 2011.

In a @WSJ op-ed, @LTGHRMcMaster and @Brad_L_Bowman argue that maintaining US military, financial, and political support in Afghanistan could have staved off a Taliban takeover.

Let's get out #TheRedPen with @gzeromedia.

In actual policy terms, Biden is tougher on China and softer on Russia than Trump.
Tougher on China: Maintaining existing trade restrictions, pursuing industrial policy on IT, more sanctions on human rights violations, more effective policy coordination w allies (the Quad, Canada and Europe).
Softer on Russia: Backdown on Nordstream 2 sanctions, START extension, pushing Summit despite Colonial Pipeline hack and Putin support for Belarus Ryanair incident.

Houston supermarkets with a Venezuela vibe.
US not supposed to look like this.
Or like January 6.

A lot of work required to repair US democracy.
Americans need to understand what decades of unregulated capitalism, captured by special interests, is doing to our country.

I wish the problems in the US system were small enough to only be the fault of one political party.
Trump’s been a truly horrible President as he proves every day up to his departure.

And the GOP leaders have enabled him.

But he was elected because the entire political establishment forgot about the average American.

Nothing gets fixed unless these lessons are learned.
This is not a “centrist” perspective.

The US political center supports special interests and a status quo that has driven unsustainable inequality of opportunity.

It’s inconsistent with the American Dream and why—despite US superpower—most Americans no longer believe in it.

Will Donald Trump fade away like Joe McCarthy and Ross Perot?

@harrispolitico says so in a new op-ed. I'm not so sure.

@EurasiaGroup's @lieber2k, @clayton_allen, Jeff Wright, @ArgenzioRegina, and I picked up #TheRedPen to explain why with @gzeromedia. gzeromedia.com/the-red-pen/do…
I explain why @realDonaldTrump’s shelf life extends beyond January 2021 with @EurasiaGroup’s @lieber2k, @clayton_allen, Jeffrey Wright, and @ArgenzioRegina. #TheRedPen
