Someone told me it's Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.

As someone who has struggled with depression, I thought I'd share some ways I've learned to work through it.

Thread 🧵:

1. Therapy Works

As a guy, we often don't feel open to unloading our thoughts and emotions on other people. My depression is usually caused by getting caught in a negative thought circle that I can't get myself out of. I've found simply speaking it out to someone really helps.
2. Basic 3

Whenever I realize I'm heading into a depressive state, I bring myself back to what I call the Basic 3.

Sleep
Diet
Exercise

There has yet to be a time when I'm depressed and not lacking on one or more of these. I put aside everything else and start here.
3. Go Outside

Studies have shown sunlight improves your mood and sleep. I find winter most difficult because of the shorter days, so I know I have to make a point of getting at least 5-10 min. If you can't get sunlight, I recommend looking into getting a blue light.
4. Write It All Out

Get a sheet of paper and just start writing every thought you're having. Similar to why I find therapy helpful, there is something about getting thoughts out of your head and seeing them clarifies them and removes some of the overwhelmingness.
5. Define Your Fears

After just simply writing everything out, try this tool I learned from Tim Ferriss years ago.

6. Delete Social Media

Doesn't have to be forever but you need time to focus on you. Instagram and Facebook is everyone's life highlight real and comparing adds flames to the fire. Twitter is very news heavy and you don't need to be taking on the worlds problems rn.
7. Feed Your Brain

You may have a negative opinion about "self help," but it can be an amazing tool for re-inspiring your heart and replenishing your mind. Go on a walk, listen, and free your mind to reimagine.

Some favorite people:
1. Tony Robbins
2. Bob Proctor
3. Jim Rohn
8. Stop Spacing

When I get depressed, I find myself trying to avoid facing it with distractions. I mindlessly binge Netflix, Youtube, and TikTok. These patterns are really hard to break, especially cold turkey. So first try scheduling a set time and sticking to it.
9. Stop Drinking

Another form of distraction with very temporary relief and direct negative effects to how you feel. It sucks to be depressed and wake up hungover.

Very hard pattern to break, but I find if I'm consistently exercising hard, my body naturally wants to drink less.
10. Find Gratefulness

It's hard to be grateful and depressed at the same time. You can go all out and write a huge list of all the things you're grateful for, or try writing 5 things your grateful for in the morning.
Hope these help someone out there! If you have any questions, let me know. Also, if you're ever going through it, I'm always open to talk!

I started a VR startup around the beginning of the first hype cycle. It’s crazy to watch another VR hype cycle start when there really isn’t a lot of new technology in the space since the last hype cycle.

It’s still VR under the guise of a new name

They tried applying a million use cases - didn’t happen.

They tried increasing the quality of headsets - didn’t happen.

They discounted the headsets - didn’t happen.

The world shut down and no one could go outside - STILL DIDN’T HAPPEN
The reality is most people bought a headset, used it once and it’s sitting in the closet.

Everything that Zuck showed in the demo has been around, it’s really nothing new. (It’s actually funny how he is essentially claiming everything that has been developed as his own invention

A deep dive into these two companies proved to be interesting!

A Thread 🧵:
This article sparked my curiosity because there are many big claims including being "involved in the gamification, theory-crafting, league bonus and adoption cycle curves, distributed autonomous organization (DAO), and other strategic and governance planning of PulseChain."
I have yet to see Richard refute these claims, so until then I'll assume they're true.

So I decided to look into the companies to find out who they are and what they do.

#HEX has an absolutely incredible community. A community diverse in life experience, knowledge, creativity, and wealth. Maybe it was chance, but I believe it fate that we've all been brought together by an amazing platform, HEX, and its genius leader, Richard Heart.
Since its inception, HEX and its patriots have been under attack from the crypto world. As its success continues to grow and push through new boundaries, those attacks have only increased and the Hexicans have never backed down.
Although many hold the line, there are a few Hexicans who have fully devoted themselves to defending HEX and what it stands for since the beginning. To these few, we should all be grateful and recognize that HEX would not be where it is today without them.
