With the introduction of the 5 year law school, it has become sought after: Justice Prathiba M. Singh
Justice Prathiba M. Singh: my own life would have been completely different if not for the post graduate scholarship. The Cambridge trust came as a Santa Clause to me.
Justice Prathiba M. Singh explains the three fold objective of the scholarship: Recognise merit, aid those in need for access to finances and to award those who wish to come back and contribute in India.
Dr. Nikhil Tandon explains the scholarship selection process briefly as well as his experience.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: My only regret is that currently digital video technology is not advanced enough to enable me to see my real audience who are fellow students of law.
Will Durant the American Scholar writes somewhere that education is the technique for transmitting civilisation and I thank you for your contribution: Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: in India, striving for excellence in the law can only be achieved by striving for and achieving some degree of proficiency in the language of the law. In colonial times, English had always been looked upon as a foreign language.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: but no longer.. English has now become a language in independent India we have now accepted as our own.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: to say all this is not to compel you all to become anglicised.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: apart from keeping yourself informed in case law, the important thing is stocking your mind with good reading of the English literature.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: if you take up the practice of law, you will often be mistaken in your views and a small step towards excellence is to be able to admit to and rectify your mistakes.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: It is an illusion to think that great cases are won or lost because of their strength or weakness. Advocacy plays a crucial, nay a vital role.
Good advocacy consists how much and how well you have thought about and how ultimately you have presented.
Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman: lastly, to achieve excellence, remember you can be smart but never too smart!
Shaikh: He is saying I am not entitled and that he as a politician must bring out the truth.
When he says truth he relies on one assertion made by him, namely Wankhede’s birth certificate says he was born Hindu.
And father was Muslim.
