Wondering what's happening lately in the movement to #StopLine3?
Here's what's been going on in the last month. REad on for the updates. 🧵
While boring through the Mississippi River headwaters, @Enbridge spilled large quantities of drilling mud and industrial chemicals into the ecosystem. Months later, heavy rains are revealing the extent of the ecological devastation caused by the company’s negligence.
For reference- here’s a comparison of the Mississippi River headwaters before and after Line 3.

This week, a group of representatives from the movement to #StopLine3, including Anishinaabe leaders, researchers, state legislators, and educators, presented a panel about the Line 3 pipeline at the ongoing #COP26 UN conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
.@SenTinaSmith has long evaded taking a stance on Line 3. She was recently asked by @HungerStr1ke to pressure Biden to stop the pipeline. Again, she refused to commit when asked if she'd join the elected officials telling the administration to #StopLine3.
Youth organizers around the US mobilized dozens of actions targeting financiers of the fossil fuel industry like @Chase, @BlackRock, @Vanguard_Group, and even the Federal Reserve to call for a Fossil Free Future.
The “rights of nature” lawsuit brought forth by manoomin (wild rice) and White Earth Nation against @mndnr is advancing through the courts.
This historic case is the first such motion filed in US tribal court, and could set a powerful precedent for environmental protections.
Call for submissions: defendant storytelling!
We want to uplift the stories of water protectors arrested in this fight. How has the movement to stop line 3 impacted your theory of change? How will your charges impact you?
ABC Nightline released a two part documentary series about the Line 3 resistance featuring interviews with Taysha Martineau and Tara Houska.
And finally, an update from the Resist Line 3 Media Collective:
We’ve decided to shift these recaps to a monthly basis as the Line 3 resistance enters a new era. Thank you all for following the fight these past several months. We won’t stop until we #StopLine3!

New photo: Amy Klobuchar tried to spend the evening mingling with millionaires at a fundraiser.
Flooding in through a service entrance, Line 3 resistors shut it down.
Humiliated, Amy Klobuchar ended her speech and fled the stage.
As long as Amy Klobuchar is complicit in Line 3 destroying her own constituents and her own state, she deserves for her events to be shut down. Full stop.
Here’s the beautiful & dramatic video capturing the confrontation:
BREAKING: @SenAmyKlobuchar was just confronted at a fundraising event by a group of water protectors who SHUT DOWN her speech.
When faced with Indigenous youth questioning her inaction on Line 3, she rolled her eyes, tried to interrupt, and eventually fled the stage. #StopLine3
@SenAmyKlobuchar This isn't the first time that @amyklobuchar has been confronted on her Line 3 stance. This has happened several times already.
What's remarkable is that every single time, her response is to run away.
Amy must hate this. It's like she can't have a single expensive private event for big-money donors without it being rudely interrupted by the people her policies are killing.
The worst part is, she could end this anytime. She could come out and say #StopLine3, but she won't.
Update: we will occupy the Capitol en masse. And we will hold the ground as long as it takes. Join us and share widely. #PeopleVsFossilfuels
Update: we are right now blockading the road to the Capitol. Police swarming in by the dozen. Youth climate activists holding the ground with fierceness & with love.
Update: police preparing to make arrests in the streets. They just issued the third and final warning. Paddy wagons have arrived on the scene. Follow along for live updates as this develops.
After nearly 8 years of fierce resistance, we learned that Line 3 will become operational this weekend.
This fight is not over, only shifted, so it's a good time for a refresher: what is Line 3, why should it be stopped, and how can you help? A thread 🧵 (1/9)
Line 3 is a pipeline that crosses 200+ bodies of water and treaty land in northern Minnesota. It's set to carry over half a million barrels of tar sands oil per day from Alberta, Canada through ND, MN, and WI, before being shipped across the country. (2/9)
.@Enbridge claims Line 3 is a "replacement" for another pipeline that has carried oil through MN for decades, but its capacity is nearly 2x that of the old. It also has a brand new route that is rich with pristine wildlife and water bodies including the Mississippi River. (3/9)
