Having caught up w/ @bbcstrictly. The incredible dance by @RoseAylingEllis & @pernicegiovann1 just brought goosebumps & a few thoughts to my mind.
The dance felt like a metaphor for my life now.
Having gone through my training with luckily minimal impact caused by my Deafness...

The silence suddenly came unexpectedly when I walked into my 1st shift when Gov made facemaske mandatory. From being a confident all dancing Paeds Trainee I was suddenly plunged into the loneliest silence struggling to "hear"& understand. anyone. I could "hear" same, but the

Puzzle pieces of lipreading/music to my life had suddenly disappeared.
Rose managed to carry on dancing beautifully in the silence but w/ the support of a wonderful ally.
For me... I had to find my allys to help me through this new world of masked "silence"...

I've been incredibly to find allys @EvelinaLondon to help me keep going thro @RCPCHtweets PEM training but its not been easy.
It really is "a joy being deaf" &has made me the person who I am today. But it's society that creates barriers when so many of us are perfectly capable.

I'm waiting for the "music" to return when clearmasks are widely used or masks disappears.
But I hope the impact of @RoseAylingEllis performance means ppl can see that w/ reasonable adjustments,kindness &patiences...you can help Deaf/disabled soar & achieve true potential.❤️
