Time can teach you many things a classroom can't.

10 things I'd tell myself 20 years ago if I could: 🧵
Learn to sell yourself.

There's a fine line between arrogance & confidence.

That said, don't be afraid to let people know what you bring to the table.

If you're not willing to sell yourself, don't expect anyone else to be willing to buy.
Say "I don't know."

When you're young, admitting you don't understand something feels like failure.

As you age you realize this couldn't be further from the truth.

You'll earn more respect admitting where your knowledge lacks, than pretending to understand things you don't.
Time flies.

Ambition is great, but be cautious.

When you get caught up in spending all of your time worrying about what tomorrow brings, you'll miss today.

Be patient, enjoy where you're at.

You'll get where you're going soon enough.
Seek knowledge over entertainment.

Listen, I'm not saying you can't ever let your hair down and have a little fun.

Of course, you can. (and you should)

But once the party's over, it's time to get back to work.

Time invested in learning will pay dividends for your entire life.
Anything, not everything.

We're often told we can be anything we want to be...

While I believe that is true, anything & everything aren't the same.

Learning to limit your commitments is a skill most of us acquire far too late.

Try to please everyone and you'll please no one.
Let go.

Grudges don't look good on anyone.

People will do you wrong, things won't always go your way, life isn't fair.

Get used to it.

Trust me, learning to take the high road and forgiving those who've transgressed against you will lead to a far happier life.
Go get it.

Lots of people like to "say" they want things, few are willing to do the work to go get them.

Quit waiting for someone to hand something to you.

Sure, you're probably going to fail (a lot) but that's ok.

Keep pushing.

Effort rarely goes unseen & is often rewarded.
Admit you were wrong.

When you screw up, own it.

Everyone makes mistakes, and people tend to be far more understanding than you may think.

Admitting your errors allows you to fast forward to the point of correcting the problem rather than dwelling on it.
Build systems.

I'm a huge fan of @JamesClear.

One of his core principles is that of building systems rather than setting goals.

Goals = Meant to be completed
Systems = Maintained long-term.

Small steps, repeated consistently over time, lead to large-scale change
Simplify.

The world isn't that damn complicated.

•Work hard
•Provide Value
•Be kind to others
•Do more than what is asked

The rest will take care of itself.

7 principles that will make you appear (and become) more intelligent today: 🧵
7/11 Rule:

Studies have shown that people make 11 assumptions about you within the first 7 seconds of interaction.

Things like:

•Economic status
•Percieved intelligence
•Trustworthiness & more.

The point is – first impressions matter.

Be confident, authentic, & honest.
Speak with authority & emotion:

Ever been in a room where two people say the same thing, yet one gets all the credit?

Here's why.

People who speak with authority & emotion are judged as being more intelligent.

Financial education is severely lacking in this world.

@10kdiver is working to change that.

I enjoyed this piece on Markov Chains & the role luck plays in our lives.

Teaser: It includes a poll question that 87% of respondents got wrong!
Earlier this week, @ShaanVP dropped a hot take on his view of what the Metaverse is and what it's not.

The validity of his opinions will surely be debated, but he makes us think, and IMO that's what matters.
