Republican position of any (white) person should be able to walk anywhere with any weapon without any licensing or regulation is *very recent* and way to right of general population. Democratic position has remained basically unchanged in decades.
Trump very clear on Republican position regarding the law & courts: they only back them when a ruling fits them but they will denounce them when it doesn't. Meanwhile Democratic leaders went out of their way to demonstrate their respect for the law, even w/ this terrible showcase
Republican position on the rule of law is exactly the same as their position on elections: if you only accept things that go your way, you actually don't accept the system at all.
When it comes to racial justice, key thing that has changed is the saliency of the issues, not policy positions. Negative coverage of civil rights has not changed since dawn of the republic: it is always portrayed as too much, too soon, but it continues to be necessary & right.
