Because of the number of people being held there are a very limited number of people being allowed in.
As an update they opened overflow and there is dial in
Photojournalist Amber Bracken has been ordered released with conditions.
Gidimt'en checkpoint leader Sleydo' Molly Wickham is expected to be seen in court in Prince George today after being arrested last Friday in Wet'suwet'en territory. Several others arrested with her were processed yesterday including two journalists. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…
According to the conditions of release for those arrested yesterday, journalists can return to the injunction zone to do their jobs. Wet'suwet'en members are allowed to return for "traditional practices". Others arrested are not allowed to return.
Proceedings today are underway. Starting with a timeline of events. Short version is there were people trying to stop construction of pipeline, courts granted an injunction order, RCMP enforced, people went back, RCMP enforced again.
Documentarian Michael Toledano (@M_Tol) is greeted by cheers and hugs outside the Prince George courthouse upon release after being arrested and held over the weekend. No coat - police say his possessions are at the Prince George courthouse
@M_Tol "Its fascistic, the entire thing is fascistic. Canadians should know that journalists in this country can be arrested and incarcerated if they're telling a story that RCMP don't like"
1. You shouldn't shuffle albums 2. You should still have the ability to shuffle albums complex.com/music/spotify-…
I mean obviously if you really want to shuffle an album (which you shouldn't) just put all the songs on a playlist and shuffle that. But it's silly to add extra steps to allow people to do something (which they shouldn't) if they can ultimately still do it.
The shuffle feature is now well over 30 years old, dating back to the ancient technology of the CD player. Wait until Adele finds out how many people used to put five albums into a multi-CD player and put THAT on shuffle, mixing up five separate visions into a single mess
"1984" was required reading for my high school English class and the aspect of it that stood out for me was Newspeak, and the character whose job it was to refine the English language to serve the purposes of Big Brother. Especially how he did it.
The way it worked was he removed words from the language. "Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought?" he said at what point, explaining the value of removing words from the vocabulary
This concept has stuck with me, especially as I've learned real-world examples of how limitations on our language influences thought. The famous one is Guugu Yimithirr, a language that does not have relative directions like "left" and "right" just "north" "south" etc
1. You can 2. This is not a good-faith way to start a discussion around inclusion 3. Further to both 1 and 2, one of the top 100 Bilboard songs right now is literally titled "Woman"
Also I can't be the only one to notice DiManno's language choices: if you say the wrong word you are "clobbered" or "bludgeoned". Ok.
Cariboo-Prince George debate up now. NDP, PPC, Conservative, Christian Heritage, Liberal and Green
Q1. Vaccinated Canadians can’t enter the U.S. What would you do about this?
Todd Doherty, CPC: The Liberals have mishandled this pandemic
Garth Frizzell, Liberals: We have a high vaccination rate, US is our friend, end is in sight
Jeremy Gustafson, PPC: We need to strengthen relationship with US and you can still fly there
Leigh Hunsinger-Chang, Green: U.S. is a great partner, and we don’t get to dictate what they do
