Vaikunta Vishnu/ Vaikuntha Chaturmurti was once worshipped widely in Kashmir region.
Though finding him in other parts of India is rare, this one from Madhya Bharath indicates about his worship out of Kashmir too.
Verse 43, of the Yashovarman (Lakshavarman) inscription in the temple links the Murti to Kashmir.
The Verse 1 of Yashovarman Inscription mentions about the four forms in the Murti as Narasimha, Vishnu, Hayagriva (in the front) + Kapila (in the back).
The Devis, Ayudha Purushas, Rishis, Avataras associated with Vishnu carved in the Prabhamandala (Frame) of this Murti would make separate study in itself.
While the best stone carved Murti available from Kashmir is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC.
the best Murti of bronze one each are in Museum of Asian Art, Berlin & County Museum of Art, Los Angeles.
A bust of Vaikuntha Murti from Mahru Pradesh (Rajasthan) can also be seen in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, Mumbai.

1. If Sultans built so grand edifice, Self obsessed Sultans couldnt build Royal palace for themselves in the place?
2. They must build it from the scrap after destroying the Jain & Hindu temples there, but the Minar intricacy cannot be brought on the scrap. So it existed already
3. The expertise of this building alone cannot be seen any contemporary buildings of Sultans. The domes they built on destroyed temples don't stand today. How does minar still stand?
They are locally called "Pancha Pandava Rathas", though they have no relation to the Pandavas.
The one visible here is the "DharmaRaja Ratha" or the proper "Dravida Vimana" carved incomplete under the patronage of the Pallava King NarasimhaVarman I.
In temple building activity, the "Purna Kumbha" is the last element to be completed.
The placing of PurnaKumbha on the central top of the Shikhara of the temple called "Kendra Garbha", officially means the Final closure of the roof.
1. Pumshila when hit with a stone sounds like Metal Iron. This stone is used for making the "Moola Viraats" (Main deities) of temple.
That's the reason, all the Moola Viraats make such sound.
Pumshilas are strong, suitable for making Life Size Murtis.
2. StriShila sounds like a Brass vessel.
They are used for making the "Devi" Murtis or the Consorts of Moola Viraats. In General the Devi Murtis are lesser in size in comparison to Moola Viraats. So, a smaller shila with lesser quality will do.
As we think #FreeHinduTemples is not just the issue. The Temple Problems are Multi Level & Multi Fold. Mainly the way they are preserved, renovated & cared.
The step motherly treatment of Hindu Temples can be felt from the photos Shared here.
1. These 1000 yrs old Ashapuri Temples built by Pratiharas & Paramars are yet to be renovated.
2. The mutilated Murtis from this temple complex lie in utterly neglected state in a small compound few Kms away. Look at the condition of Murtis @wiavastukala
