Listing a handful of some police investigations where the SNP’s name has come up.

These are either ongoing police investigations of the SNP as an organisation or elected SNP office holders. Or third parties with well documented relationships with the SNP.

1️⃣ Serious Fraud Office investigating billionaire Sanjeev Gupta

This chap sponsored a “lavish” SNP conference dinner attended by SNP cabinet ministers including the first minister.

He also secured a £500m guarantee from the Scottish Government.
(2/14
Former SNP minister Ferguson Ewing also attended an unminuted meeting with Gupta in the past too.

So the chap under investigation by fraud squad sponsored an SNP dinner, after ministers had given a huge guarantee to the company.
(3/14
2️⃣ Financial crimes unit investigating Sandstone Press of Inverness

Police are investigating if the book publisher benefited improperly from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) awarded grants and loans.
(4/14
The publisher is owned by Robert Davidson, described as an “ardent nationalist”. He also published Nicola Sturgeons book ‘Women Hold Up Half the Sky: Selected Speeches of Nicola Sturgeon.’
(5/14
So the bloke who published a book on Sturgeons speeches is being investigated by fraud squad over concerns he may have benefited from rules being broken when Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) awarded his firm grants and loans.
(6/14
The Scottish government was made aware of concerns about how this public money was being spent. But it isn’t clear that they took any action at all, as the May election was imminent.
(7/14
3️⃣ Police investigate SNP over ‘missing’ independence campaign funds

Police Scotland investigating the SNP itself. There are seven complaints alleging that money solicited for one purpose (indyref2) was spent elsewhere on other matters.
(8/14
The SNP had claimed the ‘missing’ indyref2 money had been ‘ring fenced’, but have since admitted the money wasn’t ring fenced after all.
(9/14
Also, SNP national treasurer has also claimed they don’t provide itemised breakdowns of ‘ring fenced’ monies in accounts…despite fact they used to.
(10/14
4️⃣ Police probe an SNP councillor

SNP Cllr Rhiannon Spear is the SNP national women’s convener.

She is also chair of Glasgow city council education committee.
(11/14
She is also a staunch advocate for many of the SNPs more woke policies including their Hate Crime law which excludes women under protected characteristics & also proposed GRA reform.

But in May she made her “we hate the UK” tweet. This resulted in a police probe.

How can a Scottish Government young persons health and well-being survey be controversial?

Let’s find out…
(1/13
➡️ the idea behind it

School pupils in S4 to S6 will be asked to give their views on a range of subjects.

These subjects cover the full spread of topics you’d expect. From physical and mental health to bullying and the pressures of school work.

So far so good.
(2/13
At this point I doubt anyone would dispute the value of conducting such a survey. It’s good to know more about the health and well-being of school pupils.

But what happens if the survey asks school kids about their sex lives?

Having listened to the oral testimony from the US Supreme Court hearing Mississippi abortion law case…there are signs Roe vs Wade (1973 landmark ruling which secured women’s rights to abortions in USA) is about to fall.

Despite the strong headline voting intention numbers, the devil is in the details for the SNP.

There are signs that it isn’t all plain sailing for the governing party.

The latest Ipsos Mori poll.

‘Since the Scottish Parliament elections in May 2021, do you think the Scottish Government has done a good or bad job at...?

👉 Improving the National Health Service in Scotland: ‘good job’ 40%, ‘bad job’ 48%
(2/10
👉Dealing with crime: ‘good job’ 40%, ‘bad job’ 40%

Seems voters have noticed the rising crime in Scotland, such as rising sexual crimes.

A thread (which I take absolutely no joy writing) exploring why I worry Labour at UK level still has a long way to go & also still doesn’t get why many millions of voters felt alienated from the party

Focusing on what Starmer’s Fabian pamphlet and latest reshuffle tells us
(1/12
Pondering over the Labour front bench reshuffle. It shows what Kier Starmer’s Fabian pamphlet suggested. He doesn’t get the culture cleavage in contemporary UK politics. In Fabians pamphlet he wrote about US style culture wars being ‘imported by Tories’.
(2/12
Not only is that worryingly complacent attitude, it means Labour leader is blind to very real threats to Labour’s electoral coalition.

Looking at findings in the YouGov survey for The Times & comparing to Panelbase findings.

It makes bad reading for Nicola Sturgeon and her constitutional agenda.

▶️Regarding indyref2 timing...

| YouGov Sample: 1060 Adults (16+)
18th - 22nd November 2021 |

Nicola Sturgeon said recently "We intend to take the steps that will enable a referendum to happen before the end of 2023."

But the public *clearly* do not support this - at all.
[2/9
YouGov found that in May (2nd-4th):

55% opposed holding another referendum next year, but even more significantly 50% opposed holding one before 2023.

In fact, only 34% backed Nicola Sturgeon's preferred timetable.

Short thread demonstrating how the SNP imposes cuts to Scottish education; with the Scottish 'Greens' defending it all.

Talking education attainment gap funding, and SNP sleight-of-hand alterations to resource distribution and how this directly targets the poorest pupils.

➡️19 Jun 2021: '£215 million to improve attainment'

On 19 June 2021 on the Scottish Government's website they published plans boasting about £215m to improve the educational attainment gap.

Great news, something does need to be done about it.
[2/10 Image
Part of this announcement was that 9 of the councils with the highest share of deprivation would share £43m of funding among themselves - called “Challenge Authorities” in the announcement.
