It started with the client telling me the meeting would be masked. When I got there, they were not masked. When I made a joke about it, they said they didn't know if I was vaccinated. But since I am, I didn't have to wear one.
Along the way we started talking about her chiropractor. He's unvaccinated so she stopped seeing him- not because he's unvaccinated but bc Medicare stopped reimbursements bc he's not vaxxed.
I commented that's not right & not the role of government. It's the choice of the ...
... consumer to decide if they want to see the chiropractor or not bc of his vax status. Ironically, she decided to see him and wear a mask despite the fact Medicare won't cover it. But she's all for Medicare/government punishing him.
Which of course led to the conversation about mandates. They are all for the unvaxxed being shunned from society as a matter of law. They explained science to me and that science should dictate our laws and behavior. I couldn't say NO!! fast enough.
Science is not a Constitutional override. I explained it's a very slippery slope & Fauci has already abused his scientific authority when he lied about wearing masks last spring. While I explained it may have been a "noble lie" to save PPE for the front line workers, he lied.
This is where it got interesting. Despite Fauci admitting he lied & lied for a purpose, the response was that he/we didn't have all the facts at that specific point in time. Well, OK...
... bc that then becomes a fantastic admission from someone who wants to destroy the unvaxxed since they must believe we must currently have all the facts about the vaccines, which we clearly do not.
I then declared the Single Payer concept dead. It's a common fear that Government will abuse its power to withhold medical treatment from those whose behavior it wants to politically influence in the name of the collective good, which obviously which is happening right now.
The good news is we politely agreed to disagree and concluded that the liberal form of debate is dead and that people should not be destroyed for their opinions expressed through civil debate.
We need more civil debate.
End.
Oh. She tried to throw a late haymaker at me about the Patriot Act. I shocked her when I said that its universally agreed that the Patriot Act has run down that slippery slope & is a massive abuse of Gov't power & violates all our privacies.
She kind of cemented my point.

Why are there are more jobs than people to take them? Why there's not enough workers to move product & supply chain problems? Why people are just quitting/retiring?
As an Investment Advisor, I know this 1st hand. The problem is Obamacare.
Remember Nancy Pelosi bragging about "job lock." Well, she was right. People don't have to stay in their job until 65 anymore.
Subsidies are so generous that even people w/ sizable retirement plans can get fully subsidized coverage, then wait for Medicare to kick in at 65.
I'm literally doing ACA planning for people in their early 60s who don't want to go back to the office, face a vaccine mandate or have just had it & want to get something out of the system. With massively enhanced tax credits, we manage their income (MAGI) to get free insurance.
A little Oil Production History
January 2021: Biden EO halts oil production leases on Federal lands.
June: Court orders injunction overriding Biden's EO.
August: Biden Admin files appeal of court's injunction, citing Greenhouse Gases.
Oil production is being held up by the Dept. of Interior, not the Dept. of Energy. Media, you have to ask the right questions of the right person. This is all on Interior Secretary Haaland, not Energy Secretary Granholm.
The result of Interior's stalling is states like Wyoming are now producing the same amount of oil as it did last April, the shutdown month where demand was stopped cold, & 1.7m fewer barrels/day as the pre-Covid peak March 2020.
As a nation, we're producing 2m fewer barrels/day.
Congress can only use Budget Rec once per fiscal year. The 2022 fiscal year began 10/1. If they use Budget Rec to raise the Debt Ceiling w/out attaching their massive 2 legged spending spree, their spending will have to wait until 10/1/22 (FY 2023).
The Dems do have the power to raise the Debt Ceiling now w/their current numbers, but don't want to waste the opportunity to attach their spending agenda.
So they'll wait to create a crisis & try to force Sinema & Manchin to join their spending spree to avoid shutdown.
Mitch McConnell, by not participating in the Debt Ceiling vote, is forcing the Dem's hand. That's pretty savvy.
The politics right now is to blame the GOP. But the reality is the left is trying to pressure Sinema & Manchin to choice between shut down & spending spree.
