Anyone else know young people who are American seriously considering leaving the country to start a new life because of the state of politics in the us?
I can tell you this for damn sure. I’m never going to raise kids here if there are still school shootings when I’m older.
Wow I had no idea how many people there are that already have or currently are considering this of all ages.
For the record I’m not considering this I’m asking because I know people who are.
Ngl though some of the stuff I’ve heard from people in my circles about 2024 terrifies me. I’m afraid if the worst happens and someone like trump becomes an authoritarian many organizers are going to have to leave the country to organize in exile or face execution here
The people in my dms talking about why they’re leaving or why they left is heartbreaking. One of the most fucked up things as to being able to leave is a privilege of A being able to get In and B takes a lot of money

We could give $100,000 to every one of the 500,000 homeless in the the US. it would cost $50,000,000,000 or approx 7% of the annual amount we spend on our military and we would still be spending more than the next three countries combined.
I’m not a housing policy expert- but you don’t have to be to see how fucked up our priorities are.
I’m not advocating this is how we go about solving homelessness as I’m not an expert but I say it to provide some perspective on why the cost argument is largely bullshit. Especially considering the 7% goes mostly to bullshit PMCs and companies that produce shit equipment.
The proud boys and oath keepers are not independent groups. They’re the armed wing of the Republican Party.
They can’t rely on the military to push their political agenda domestically so they are building their own.
We need to get guns out of politics before the extreme polarization we have erupts into mass violence. On our current path every city will become Kenosha but worse.
Do we want to focus on making progress or do we want to make everyone happy? Every single day we are out messaged and out organized. We can continue with the delusional optimism that’s brought us here or we can address the fact that as it stands- we are our own worst enemy.
The lack of self awareness is truly insane. How can people expect to build a completely new system and society if they can’t even run their own organizations?
Progressives need to do some real reflection on how we can be a movement that brings people in rather than pushing the few we already have out.
Guns turned what could have been a fistfight into a shootout. At every turn guns made this situation go from violent to deadly.
Don’t forget the police knew that there were armed civilians down the road who the police made the decision to push the protesters towards. They made that decision- to push the protesters several blocks down the street bringing both groups into close contact.
One militia member has even been cited as saying that allegedly a police officer told them that they (the cops) were going to move the protesters down the street and that the militia could “handle them”
No one, no single student, parent, political party, organization, senator or president is going to save us. We have to save us by all doing our part and working together to address the challenges of our time.
I would say I’m glad I’m not on Elon Musks comms team but I think it’s pretty clear at this point he fired all of them.
I was younger- I considered becoming an aerospace engineer. It was fucking amazing seeing spacex rockets from my house literally come back from space and land themselves.
It sucks to see how much of the hard work so many employees have done to innovate in space travel and other areas is being erased more and more by Elon’s stupid tweets.
