(THREAD) Good evening and welcome to this week’s #IowaSim21, the (unofficially) official weekly Iowa football simulation, as we get set for the virtual Big Ten Championship.

We’re about 45 minutes from kickoff.

The simulation has correctly predicted the winner in 9 of 11 Iowa games this season, absent for Purdue week, while it has correctly picked the winner in 84 of 103 games since starting in 2013. #IowaSim21

Picked off! Belton! McNamara late to the outside on third down and Belton snags it. Iowa will take over at the Michigan 20. Extra possessions feel like golden possessions. #IowaSim21

FG IOWA. Shudak puts his second kick through the uprights, this one from just 24 yards out, as the Hawkeyes extend their lead to 6-0 early in the second quarter. #IowaSim21

DJ Turner with the INT. Not sure what the heck that was. Looked like (virtual) Petras wanted a quick pass, two WRs in the same area never looked, and it goes the other way. Michigan takes over at the Iowa 21, right after the Hawkeyes forced a 3-n-out defensively. #IowaSim21

FG MICH. The Iowa D puts out the fire following the Petras interception. Moody with the 38-yarder and Iowa’s lead is trimmed to 6-3 with 3:02 left before half. #IowaSim21

Iowa goes 3-n-out. But punting is (virtually) winning? Look at that beautiful boot. It flips the field. Michigan will take over at its own 17, looking to cut into a 6-3 Iowa lead with 2:17 left in 2Q. #IowaSim21

FG IOWA. Still no touchdowns, but a third Shudak FG (from 37 yards) now makes it a touchdown game. It’s 9-3 Iowa, 4:33 3Q. #IowaSim21

TD MICH. McNamara to All for a 7-yard touchdown pass. That’s a 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive and the Wolverines have a 10-9 lead after the PAT with 6:33 to play. A (questionable?) pass interference call on Koerner kept the drive alive for Michigan on 3rd-and-14. #IowaSim21

The guy in khakis is thrilled. #IowaSim21

An absolute bomb!!! Iowa isn’t going away without a fight, as Petras fakes the give and chucks it deep downfield. He hits Johnson in stride and the Hawks have it at the Mich 12. Oh my. #IowaSim21

TD IOWA. Oh baby! The Hawkeyes finally find the end zone, as Goodson plows over a couple defenders for the score. What a run. What a sim. Looks like Iowa is going for 2 here, up 15-10 with 4:50 to play. Looking to make it a 7-point lead. #IowaSim21

“YOU GOT BARBECUE BACK THERE?! AND YOU DIDN’T INVITE ME?! TYLER GOODSON… NAH! TYLER BOOMSON!” —(virtual) Gus Johnson, probably. #IowaSim21

The 2-point conversion attempt fails. Michigan read the WR screen to Bruce like a book. So it’ll stay 15-10 Iowa with 4:50 to play. Hold on tight. #Hawkeyes

A quick reset to catch our breath. It’s been a doozie. Michigan ball at its own 25. #IowaSim21

And the Iowa defense forces a 3-n-out. Of course they do. What a time for it. Michigan with no choice but to punt it away. Iowa takes over at its own 34, leading 15-10 with 3:34 to play. Can they do it? Can they chew the clock and not give the Wolverines the ball back? #IowaSim21

Cash money! A playaction rollout for Petras and he hits Bruce for a gain of 23. 1st-and-10 at the Michigan 26, 2:09 to play and the Wolverines with just 1 timeout left. #IowaSim21

There’s Michigan’s last timeout. 2:04 to go. Iowa at the Wolverines 24. Gotta imagine it’s time to run it two more times and trot Shudak out, right? And ask for one more stop from this defense? Or, you know, I don’t know. I can’t figure out (virtual) BF, man. #IowaSim21

A peak (virtual) Iowa win, as Shudak kicks four FGs, the defense snags two turnovers, Michigan takes the lead late but the Hawkeyes claw back even later.
