(UPDATING THREAD BELOW)

Good evening and welcome to this week’s #IowaSim19, the unofficially official weekly Iowa football video game simulation, presented by @StuffNThingsPod.

We’re about 15 minutes from kickoff between the (virtual) Hawkeyes and Badgers. So tell a friend!
The guys in red. #IowaSim19
And the guys in white. #IowaSim19
Wisconsin has won the toss and defers to the second half. Iowa’s offense will be up first.

Aaaaand here we go! #IowaSim19
Woof. That’s a tough start. Stanley is intercepted by Caesar Williams. Wisconsin takes over at its own 45. #IowaSim19
TD WISC. Wisconsin needs just six snaps to make Iowa pay for the INT on the opening drive. Jack Coan to A.J. Taylor for 14 yards and he had about that much in separation, too. That’s not the start you hope for. But long ways to go. 7-0 Badgers, mid 1Q. #IowaSim19
Iowa’s response drive goes 3-n-out. Stanley was sacked on both second and third down. That was Michigan all over again. The punt is a good one by Sleep-Dalton, as it goes 51 yards with no return to flip the field. #IowaSim19
Iowa defense pushes back with a 3-n-out of its own.

Hawkeyes take over at their own 43, trailing 7-0 with :06 left in the 1st. #IowaSim19
That’s the end of one: 7-0 Badgers. #IowaSim19
Iowa starting to move a little on this drive. Toren Young exclusively in at RB and they’re making a push behind him. They’ve got 2 third-down conversions and they’re inside the Wisconsin 30, trailing 7-0 early 2Q. #IowaSim19
TD IOWA. Now there’s something to cheer about. 12 plays, 57 yards and more than five minutes off the clock. It’s Stanley to LaPorta on a beautiful play-fake that had the Badgers defense looking rough. It’s 7-7, 3:25 2Q. #IowaSim19
Badgers hit on a huge pass play. Coan to Ceephus for 61(!) yards. They’re deep into Iowa territory with the Hawkeyes defense facing a fire to put out before halftime. Still tied 7–7, 1:46 2Q. #IowaSim19
Extinguished! Geno Stone making plays. Iowa will take over at their own 18. Three timeouts and still 1:38 left, but I’ve seen (virtual) Kirk enough doing this six years now to know this is probably in the no-go zone. #IowaSim19
As expected. We’ll head to the half tied 7-7 in (virtual) Madison. #IowaSim19
And while taking a quick break at the half, if you enjoy #IowaSim19 and the silly nature of it — please consider donating to the serious cause of it this season.

Venmo: IowaSim
Both teams exchange two punts to open the second half. Not a whole lot to tweet about there. That’s just the nature of the sim business sometimes, man.

Field position in favor of Wisconsin. Badgers take over at their own 39, still tied 7-7 with 3:42 3Q. #IowaSim19
FG WISC. Collin Larsh is good from 36 yards out. Bucky is relieved. Good for him. It’s 10-7 Wisconsin, 1:03 3Q. #IowaSim19
Smith-Marsette with a great kickoff return to give Iowa some juice after the Badgers FG. They’ll take over at the Wisc47, trailing 10-7 1:03 3Q. #IowaSim19
We’re through three and it’s been every bit of the defensive slugfest we expected it to be.

Wisconsin 10, Iowa 7. #IowaSim19
Hawkeyes forced to punt it away again.

Running game has not been there and it’s hurting. Iowa had just 68 yards rushing through three quarters.

Wisconsin takes over at its own 19, leading 10-7 with 7:21 left. #IowaSim19
FG WISC. The Badgers add on as Larsh is good from 46 yards. It’s 13-7 Wisconsin, 3:38 to go.

Hold onto your butts. #IowaSim19
Hawks on the move! Iowa down to the Wisc38, as Goodson takes a well-timed screen pass 28 yards. Badgers defense came on a blitz, Stanley just got rid of it before being clobbered and Goody did the rest. 2:31 left, Iowa down 13-7. #IowaSim19
Inside the 10! On 3rd-and-7 from the 35, (virtual) Brian Ferentz calls for a draw out of the shotgun. Goodson takes it all the way down to the Wisconsin 7-yd-line. Huge block outside by Smith-Marsette to spring it. 1:46 left, Badgers still lead 13-7. #IowaSim19
TD IOWA! Toren Young finishes the drive of the year for Iowa. Wow wow wow. It’s 14-13 Hawkeyes after the Duncan PAT, 1:27 remaining 4Q. #IowaSim19
Wisconsin has all three timeouts and will start at the 25 following a touchback.

Iowa leads 14-13, 1:27 left.

Epenesa?? Golston?? Stone?? Somebody anybody... please.

I believe in this thing too much for this to go sour now. #IowaSim19
Jonathan Taylor. Wow. He takes a pass out of the backfield matched up on Doyle, makes him miss and he’s off. Makes Koerner miss and he’s finally brought down at the Iowa 44. Timeout Wisconsin. 14-13 Iowa leads, :53 left. #IowaSim19
Oh no. No, no, no.

Coan to Cephus down to the Iowa 7. This might hurt and it might hurt bad.

:43 left to go. Iowa timeout.

Quick, somebody come and trip over the cord to pull it out from the wall. #IowaSim19
Iowa uses its last timeout.

Hawkeyes lead 14-13 with :13 left, but Wisconsin is going to have a chip-shot here for a go-ahead field goal.

It’s Collin Larsh from 19 yards out... #IowaSim19
It’s good. Badgers lead 16-14. #IowaSim19
Smith-Marsette is tripped up on the kickoff at the 25 and Iowa is going to have one last calling for a miracle here.

:07 left. #IowaSim19
No miracles in Madison allowed. #IowaSim19
And that’ll do it from (virtual) Madison, as Wisconsin takes it away from Iowa late with a 16-14 win.

I hope you enjoyed tonight’s #IowaSim19, if not the outcome. Thanks for following along and thanks to our sim sponsor @StuffNThingsPod.

Enjoy the game on Saturday everybody!
