Good evening and welcome to this week’s #IowaSim19, the unofficially official weekly Iowa football simulation, presented by @StuffNThingsPod.

We’re about 30 minutes from kick in (virtual) Ann Arbor between the incorrectly ranked Hawkeyes and Wolverines.

Here come the guys in maize and blue.

It was heads. Congrats to all who got it right. Those who picked tails, I hope you think about what you’ve done.

Iowa also picked tails. Michigan defers. Hawkeye offense up first and heeeere we go...

And we have an Iowa fumble. Stanley is hit by Khaleke Hudson, the ball pops out and the guys in blue are on it. Not an ideal start. Michigan takes over at its own 40. #IowaSim19

Big tackle in open space by Colbert on Charbonnet. Could’ve been a touchdown, instead it’ll be a Michigan FG try. #IowaSim19

FG MICH. There’s fire No. 1 that Iowa’s defense puts out today. Moody is goody (sorry, I won’t do that again) from 29 yards out. 3-0 Wolverines, 2:11 1Q. #IowaSim19

That’s the end of a fast 1st quarter: Michigan leads 3-0. #IowaSim19

Iowa’s offense stalls on Michigan’s side of the field. Virtual Kirk plays the field position game and Sleep-Dalton’s punt dribbles inside the 10. Michigan takes over deep in its own territory, still leading 3-0 early 2ndQ. #IowaSim19

SAFETY IOWA. My oh my what a turn of events. Patterson loses track of where he’s at on the field (maybe?), doesn’t get the screen pass off and down he goes in the end zone. It’s Lattimore. And we’ve got a baseball score. 3-2 Wolverines, 7:04 2Q. #IowaSim19

TD IOWA. Guess who? Iowa needs four plays after the safety punt to take its first lead of the game. It’s ya boy, Oliver. Stanley to Martin for 32 big ones. Iowa leads 8-3 after the 2-pointer fails, as Stanley inexplicably throws one away. Whatever, it all washes out. #IowaSim19

Michigan is driving but Welch halts them momentarily with this huge sack. That looked like it hurt. #IowaSim19

FG MICH. And there’s extinguished fire No. 2. Iowa’s defense bows up once again, as Moody is true from 45. Iowa still leads 8-6, 3:52 2Q. #IowaSim19

Iowa punts it back with 1:56 left before the half. Michigan will start at its own 14. That’s too far for another safety, right? #IowaSim19

Doesn’t matter. It’s a 3-&-out. Virtual Kirk gets aggressive and uses his timeouts to get the ball back with 56 seconds left before halftime. Iowa takes over at their own 41, leading 8-6. #IowaSim19

FG IOWA. The Hawkeyes get into Duncan range and the Hawks run on him. Or whatever that slogan is. Whatever. Moving on. He’s good from 43 yards as time expires and Iowa leads 11-6 at the half. Enjoy the highlights. #IowaSim19

TD MICH. A 61-yard KO return to open the second half gets the Wolverines bouncing and then this happens for them to jump in front. Iowa’s D is all caught out of place and Turner is home free. Michigan leads 14-11 after a successful 2pt QB draw by Patterson, 6:22 3Q. #IowaSim19

Pretty even thus far. That safety proving huge for Iowa. Not sure about going for two as early as they did, but hey, I’m just the guy with a phone in one hand and a beverage in the other — just like on Saturdays. #IowaSim19

And Iowa now goes 3-n-out. That’s no bueno. The Big House is loud, there was just a cutscene of Michigan players hyped up celebrating after breaking up the 3rd down pass and all the mojo is to them. Wolverines take over at their own 32, leading 14-11 with 4:38 3Q. #IowaSim19

TD MICH. Welp. Patterson hits Collins down the sideline — and he’s a grown (virtual) man, apparently. 42 yards for the score. It’s 21-11 Wolverines after the PAT, 3:50 3Q. #IowaSim19

The Iowa O is lost. We’re off the path and into the woods lost. It’s another punt and the Wolverines might be smelling blood. Can wolverines smell blood? I assume so. Noses and all. Michigan takes over at its own 33, leading 21-11 with 51 seconds left in the third. #IowaSim19

End of 3: Michigan 21, Iowa 11.

TD IOWA. Hold everything. Smith-Marsette hauls in this pass from Stanley and turns toward the end zone. It’s 21-18 Michigan, 6:55 to play. Be a great time for that first Iowa defensive turnover.

PICKED OFF! Genoooooo! He spies and pounces. It’s brought all the way back to the Michigan 18. I thought it was going all the way for a second. Iowa can tie with a FG or take the lead with a TD, trailing 21-18 with 6:09 left. #IowaSim19

TD IOWA. OH WHAT A HEEL TURN! Iowa jumps back in front. Wow wow wow. Sargent off the left edge on the stretch run. Look at that blocking. Hawkeyes take a 25-21 lead with 5:54 to go! #IowaSim19

Devonte Young flies down the field and pops Bell at the 14. Absolutely blows him up. Great kickoff coverage. Michigan starts there with 5:44 left, Iowa leading 25-21. #IowaSim19

Sack! Golston! Michigan is deep in its own territory. They’re going to have to punt this football away. #IowaSim19

It’s two short runs and an incomplete pass for Iowa. That was a letdown. They punt it back to Michigan, who takes over at its own 34. It’s 25-21 Iowa, 2:18 to play. This is probably it, you guys. Hold on to your butts. #IowaSim19

IOWA DEFENSE PUTS OUT FIRE NUMBER WHATEVER!
Koerner makes Patterson pay for a bad decision. It’s the second INT in as many drives. Ok. Calm down. Collect ourselves. Still two minutes to run out and all 3 timeouts for Michigan available. Can a brother get a first down? #IowaSim19

First down, Young gets 2 yards. Timeout Michigan. #IowaSim19

Second down, Young gets five yards. Timeout Michigan. Almost broke it, but got his ankle clipped at the second level. 3rd and 3 coming up.

Third down... big I-formation for Iowa... TE motions over... it’s a quick handoff... It’s Ross! Fullback! First down! He picks up 3! Needed 3 and got 3! That should do it! Holy crap that should do it. HAHA STICK IT VIRTUAL HARBAUGH #IowaSim19
