I don't think the guy who was laughing it up with Graham Linehan - an incredibly angry man - in 2019, about inventing phrases like "the Woke Stasi" to describe people who support trans rights, is going to bring any introspection to the subject of online anger.

I would also add that the guy who has a history of blackface - albeit that he apologised of late - might not be the best guy to be given a TV show to discuss "angry" movements like BLM.

How many shows and articles by UK celebrity men past their peak are we going to get on this?

This is nothing but the establishment handing middle-aged men who could once do blackface on TV to slag off black footballers without consequence a platform to moan about the fact that they can't do that anymore without hearing from the people who are angry about that.

How many whinging versions of "the (show/book/movie etc. that made the person the most money) wouldn't get made today," without grasping that *clears throat*

All I can see is a bunch of hasbeens bemoaning how they now have to hear from people about how shitty their stuff was for minority people, who didn't have a voice at the time, often given to them by social media.

There's a good documentary on that called "The Problem With Apu."

It deals with how that character on the Simpsons actually made life measurably worse for Indians living in America, while most of the rest of us were laughing it up, oblivious to how the character hurt people.

Now those people have a voice

Hurrah! The world is a better place.

And now we have to endure the cry of the ex-comedians, wah-wahing about how life has changed, and they can't even get away with following their transphobic mate without people asking them "Hey, why are you following your transphobic mate?"

Oh, the oppression!

Ironically, one day people are going to laugh at the fact that we had a term called "cancel culture" to describe famous, wealthy people facing the merest modicum of criticism or consequences for what they said and did. "I'm being silenced!" they cried on their BBC documentaries.

I heard a famous YouTube guy say that "because of cancel culture, comedy might not even exist in the future. It could be a clandestine thing that people do in speakeasies..." Yes, the inability to do blackface while singing "he's got a Pineapple on his head" means comedy is dead.

You have to laugh.
