My sister has me watching Love and Marriage Huntsville and she is living to regret this.
First of all, I hit pause so we could look at the poverty rate in Huntsville. Because this ostentatious Black wealth with a heavily working class inflection got me confused.
Then someone named Melody hired interns and demonstrated an alarming disregard for responsible supervision. So I hit pause to explain that unpaid labor should have an educational experience to compensate for the exploitation
Now I am circling a conversation about colorism. She finally just said, “fine, turn it.” 😂😂
The premise of these shows is that strangers get to ask you about all of your business? It’s a strange genre.
Me, one hour later: “Martell screwed up the bag by cheating his way out of the show’s primary marriage and he lies straight face to his own family just to stay in the storylines. Watch his face when I rewind! Also he is a narcissist.”
Oh how the mighty has fallen.

Sometimes I’m working with someone on a project and I express a strategy about design or marketing or process or something considered professional. And they are surprised? Sometimes I ask them why and it is very eye-opening.
And I laugh because they legitimately think I am in the room because I’m like sassy or something. Everybody is so racist and sexist lol
One time a famous rapper told me about going to business meetings and they have a table full of champagne. At 9 am. And he was laughing saying, “my man, I eat clean and also it is breakfast and this is a brand meeting.”
I cannot even put into WORDS how I felt when my doorbell rang as I was teaching and a delivery person handed me this GORGEOUS bounty from Chef @andreareusing of @LanternNC
There are only two other gifts in my life that are in this god tier.
I take this amazing, thoughtful gift as a sign from the universe that I am living a life so authentic to me that empathetic people know how to make me happy. Thank you a million.
I do not generally support brands on social media because, one, it’s too much pressure and, two, when I ask you to support something I want you to trust that it’s really important.
This week and any week, please consider supporting your LOCAL bail fund and/or @nightschoolbar
I always appreciate your support, obvi, but I’m full up on gifts! If you have ever felt inclined to tip me, these two causes are really good approximations of my values: debt-free humanistic inquiry for all & freedom over money. Thank you 🙏🏾.
I have met the man in this thread a million times. Some of the Black male discourse #onhere is blackfishing sock puppets. Some of it bears out as actual people & how they actually talk in real life.
There is something to a Black man with more than one degree but fewer than three, who has never been married by age 45, and who also smokes cigars that’s just a very specific socal location. That’s all I can tell you.
That man is absolutely going to talk *at* you for two straight hours, generally with his response to every Black twitter and Black Facebook “debate” he has ever seen. Thus the rundown that feels like one long Facebook comment about $100 dates.
The bartender is trying to convince everyone at the bar not to get vaccinated. She isn’t vaccinated her daughter because she got sick after her shot. And she has had COVID twice. Just reporting the news.
These are my people. And I ain’t gonna say jack nothing. All the ships have sailed. I got nothing to add.
“If it’s my time, take me Lord.” Everyone at the bar nods. “I am good with god.”
I am NOT good with god, which is why I get all the shots.
