Pandit Todarmal was eminent Jain scholar of 18 century in Jaipur. He was spiritual thinker and author. His contemplation is wonderful harmony of logic and self realization. In the true tradition of ancient Jain Saints , Pandit ji did not write about his life history. #Thread
A life-span of only 47 years. #panditTodarmal was born in Jaipur (India). His father was Shri Jogidasji Khandelwal of Godika Gotra (Jain subcaste) and mother was Rambhabai. He was married and had two sons, Harishchandra and Gumaniram. Gumaniram was a great revolutionary genius.
Panditji received basic education in the spiritual Tera Panthi Style of Jaipur. He was a great intellectual having sharpness of understanding and a studious nature. He was well- versed in Prakrit, Sanskrit, Hindi and Kannad languages.
About his scholarship Pandit Raimalji wrote in his letter of invitation for the Indra-dhwaj Vidhana (Ritual), in the year l764 that: "It is very difficult to find a man of his intellect these days. All the doubts about religious matters are eliminated after meeting him".
About his knowledge and studies, he himself writes in Moksha Marg Prakashah that, "I have studied Samayasara Panchastikaya, Prauachanasara, Niyamsara, Gomattasara, Labdhisara, Triloksara, Tattvarthasutra, with commentaries; Kshapanasara, Purushartha Siddhyupaya, Asthapahud,
Atmanushasana and many other scriptures describing the conduct of monks and householders, and Puranas containing stories of great personalities according to my own understanding and knowledge".
In his short life- span, in all he wrote twelve books, large and small volumes,
which is about a lac verses in measure and about five thousand pages.
They are as follows
Rahasyapurna Chitthi (Spiritual letter)
Gomattasara Jivakanda-Hindi commentary
Gomattasara Karmakand-Hindi commentary
Arthasandrashthi-Adhikar.
Labdhisara-Hindi commentary
Kshapanasara-Hindi commentary
Gomattasara puja
Triloksara-Hindi commentary
Samosharana Rachna Varnan
Moksha Marg Prakashak (Incomplete)
Atmanushasan-Hindi commentary
Purusharthasiddhyupaya-Hindi commentary (incomplete). [completed by Pandit Daulatram Kasliwal in VS 1770]
Moksha Marg Prakashak is one of the most important original works of Pandit Todarmalji. The basis of this treatise is based not on any one Jain spiritual book but the whole of the available Jain literature, several edition have been published in hindi gujrati urdu English etc
Besides, hundreds of handwritten copies of this book are found in the libraries of Digambar Jain Temples throughout India.
The original handwritten copy in the hand of Pandit Todarmalji is also available in the famous temple at Jaipur- "Shri Deewanji Ka Mandir"- where
Pandit Todarmalji used to give lecture everyday to a gathering of more than a thousand persons.
At the end of the incomplete ninth chapter, Panditji had a plan to write many more chapters.
When panditji started to write granth ,
His mother purposely stopped adding salt to his food , cuz salt brings pramad(laziness) , she didn't wanted panditji to make any mistake while writing granth .
Intresting part over here is pandit ji himself was so engrossed in writing
The granth that he didn't even come to know that his food was widout salt.
one day he told his mother, that today you forgot to add salt.
Mother said it means u have completed the granth cuz I had stopped adding salt in your food from last 6 months.
Such was his devotion🙌
Sad End to the Glorious Life
According to Pandit Bakhtawar Shah, Todarmalji was arrested on a false charge of removing an idol and was executed by the order of a Jaipur ruler who was under the influence of some staunch anti-Jain individuals in the court, who had become jealous
of his influence.
It is a pity that this great personality who was never attracted towards amassing physical comforts and worldly achievements, became a prey of communal hatred and consequently had to sacrifice his life prematurely
On his increasing popularity, jealous regents instigated King to order trampling of Pandit Todarmal under feet of an elephant. The elephant felt pity and was hesitant. Fearless Pandit Todarmal tells him:
“Oh Elephant! This is the order of the King. Don’t hesitate and just follow his order.” Elephant puts a foot on Pandit Todarmal and young Panditji died at the very moment.

Reason why missionaries are targeting jains a micro minority community.
They are suffering from missionaries & vote bank politics
These are BPL jain families in karnataka they are deprived from all sort of minority benefits,
cuz those are reserved for only one community #Thread
Today in india minority means only one particular community .

Shrimad Rajchandraji - Param Krupalu Dev. A revolutionary jain poet from gujrat have changed lives of many including MK Gandhi.
This thread is about his phenomenal ability to perform Avdhan
And how he quit doing it for the sake of moksh marg
He was a true Bharat ratna. #Thread
whenever He used to see something good, He immediately imbibed it and within no time surpassed it. An ideal example of this is His ability to perform avdhans. An avdhan is the ability to concurrently be attentive to number of activities and objects @JainMaggii@the_lost_girl92
Once Param Krupalu Dev, at the age of 16, was invited to witness a demonstration of eight avdhans by Shastri Shankarlal Maheshwar Bhatt in Morbi. As per the available information, during those times, only 2 people in the whole of India were able to exhibit such skill! #JainGem
The Christian missionaries threatened to convert Jain King Kumud and all 22,000 Jains of Goa to convert to Christianity within 6 months, abandon Jainism and accept Christianity or face death
but King Kumud and Jains were ready to die and refused conversion.
An unknown historical fact is the heartbreaking incident that occurred 500 years ago. Jain King Kumud was ruling Goa. Portuguese captured Goa by forcibly removing him.
The Catholic clergy along with the Portuguese army attacked in large numbers to convert innocent people. The clergy captured the entire city of Goa, threatening and forcing people to convert. Those who opposed conversion and refused to convert, were brutally killed.
Did you know this story? #RaniAbbakka#jaingem#jain

The year was 1555. Portuguese colonial power was at its peak in the 1500’s. They destroyed Zamorins of Calicut. Defeated the Sultan of Bijapur.
Took away Daman from the Sultan of Gujarat, Established a colony in Mylapore, Captured Bombay and made Goa as their headquarters. And while they were at it, pretty much unchallenged, they even ruined the ancient Kapaleeswarar Temple to build a Church over it.@truejainology
Their next target, the super profitable port of Mangalore.
Their only bad luck, just 14 kilometers south of Mangalore was the small settlement of Ullal - ruled then by a feisty 30 year old woman - *RANI ABBAKKA CHOWTA*
Initially, they took her lightly and sent a few boats
