the Moynihan report is rooted in this same racist patriarchal cissexist western bourgeoisie ambivalence of yt manhood as both realized & yet henpecked/hampered by the industrial normative family structure/gender relations & "black manhood" is a trickle down "failure" of this
like the more radical black trans/queer/feminist critique was not critiquing the family structure nor its attendant gender & gender relations from a cite of mourning or comparison or a desire for inclusion. they argued we can, must & in deed have done things differently

i partially blame the uncritical adoption of Spillers' "primary narrative", a passing point in the essay ppl fixate on, that while important, still emerges from the patriarchal Freudian/Lacanian order of the normative family, tho the rest of the essay critiques this structure
what we seem to be witnessing w this new "gender-informed" black (trans)misogyny is the kind of conservative reaction to radical critique & organizing akin to the institutional birth of capitalist-patriarchal Afrocentrism in the 1970's as a response to the black power movement
movements steeped in the mourning of & that hence argue for the reclamation of Western bourgeois forms of power always emerge out of more radical movements that critique & seek to abolish those v structures of power. i've yet to see the latter in these new cis black men takes
