Everyday *THEY* game the system. Everyday we are forced to play their game with no ROI. It's rigged against #smallbusinesses & #startups outside SV/1% $. Building a biz is nearly impossible if you're not a wht guy.

Social impact is not immune. On a website of an out of touch "social impact investor" (saw this today!) who only funds businesses 3 years + with annual revenue $750k +. Suggestion from their FAQ for startups is appalling for a fund claiming to help the neediest of businesses. 2/

"We require a minimum of three years in operation for financing, and thus do not fund start-ups. For capital to get your social enterprise off the ground, we recommend reaching out to friends and family, or an angel investor network in your area." Why didn't we think of that?! 3/

Besides the fact that not all social entrepreneurs have access to generational wealth, can't form a nonprofit, and do not have "strong collateral" the dismissiveness of this is completely incongruent w/ EVERYTHING on their site i.e. mission-driven, focused on equity, etc. 4/

Compare that fund (around since the 80s & loaned more than half a billion to social businesses), to stats around the BILLIONS invested in Crypto, Blockchain, DeFi.
It's VERY hard to swallow. $ exists; just not for us.

Investing in NFTs up 6523% from 2020 (104 deals; 78% of those deals went to early stage, assume mostly tech bros.) 2021 invested 2.035B in NFTs.
Same guys get all the $ gambling on each other.
Contrast the social impact firm: they invested 30% of that in small biz over 27 yrs. 6/

Crypto remains <25% women.
We do NOT want in yet because Blockchain in its current form=bad for the earth, bad for accessibility, not egalitarian despite marketing it that way. It's an MLM & unsafe to boot.
Does not solve ANY problems we have except how humans get more stuff. 7/

If your work doesn't center the community you serve in your comms or funding, you are not "doing the work."
You are doing capitalism and patriarchy and White Supremacy.
If you believe you're meant to be the next Billionaire, instead of #AbolishBillionaires, you missed a memo. 8/

DeFi does NOT decentralize power nor does it democratize wealth; it simply creates a NEW billionaire class. It moves $ from a few tech bros to a few more tech bros who are not happy at 50k or 500k. There's ZERO focus on reparations or justice for making those still at $5/hr. 9/

Meanwhile #DMBE's can't get tiny grants. Most big grants require 501c3 status.
Only 2% of womxn-owned small biz break $1M revenue.
Only 4% of Black-owned businesses make it past startup phase.
VCs gave <2% to womxn & <.02% to Black womxn in 2020 because "change is slow." 10/

Come again? Blockchain up $15B in 9 mos. Slow my a$$. Pledged BLM dollars will pale in comparison too.

DON'T TELL US the economy cannot change fast. Or that investors don't know us or can't take on risk!

It’s NOT revolutionary or progressive if it actively ignores the same people our current financial system does.
It's NOT rebuilding the economy if it causes irreparable harm. 12/

It's like driving a Hummer with a Go Green bumper sticker, claiming you're waiting for EV to be bigger/faster/whatever. It's Greenwashing & DEI-washing & it's everything wrong w/ "business" today.
This is why underestimated founders today are burnt out & shutting their doors. 13/

Web 3 businesses will just use the same loopholes wealth management and law firms have (and are stoked about) after the last administration put in weak caps on wealth in 2017 (10k in deductions). Now 20 states and counting found ways for hedge funds to save on Federal taxes. 14/

PLUS the Senate railed against "Biden’s pick for top bank regulator" Omarova for her economic academic research & ideas around how to move wealth. One called her a commie. Even Dems got in on it. Bullied her till she withdrew herself. They are that scared to lose $ & power. 15/

"Democratizing" power through blockchain and Web 3.0 solves nothing.
It doesn't create more human accountability or increase value of caring.
If you cede power to The Collective, fraud is a non-issue.
It requires care for The Collective over "MINE."17/

Buying 1 of 1 is expensive if it's IRL or a string of code tacked on a digital art. Production cost is why it's worth something.
"But "mining" is me taking responsibility for my investing."
Mining is responsible for for $0.49 in health & climate damage for every $1 Bitcoin. 18/

Like Carbon offsets (B.S.) "You cannot use lifestyle or credits as an offset when you are actively building a system that does harm."
Saying crypto/blockchain is safe/good for creators, & we should get in on it IS fraud.

Don't wait till they "make it better, safer, eco etc." They won't. EV has existed for years. We still drill, baby, drill.
