I knew - also from my personal conversations with @RogerPielkeJr throughout the years - that he had been treated very badly by prominent Democrats like Podesta, Steyer, Holdren, Paul Krüger, Joe Romm etc. But unfortunately it is even worse.

Donna Laframboise (met her as well) wrote an excellent report for the @GWPF_org about the "academic mobbing" of Pielke.
"The hounding of Roger Pielke has been abhorrent. It is time that university administrations stood up to cancel culture and the outrage mobs."

In short what happened is that after the public harassment by these influential Democrats (note that Pielke himself always voted for a Democrat) he became a 'pariah' (my word) even in his own faculty.
To give you an idea what this means in practice:

"Nevertheless, he was assigned a windowless, 98-squarefoot office, reminiscent of the fictional Harry Potter’s cupboard under the stairs. It came with no computer, no telephone line, and no Ethernet connection (Wi-Fi was available)."

"This phenomenon has a name. It’s called ‘academic mobbing’. As Eve Seguin, a professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal explains, this is a collective form of bullying, a ‘concerted process to get rid of an employee’"

"It includes public humiliation, ‘tampering with their workstation’, and false accusations, an onslaught
that eventually poisons the entire faculty:"

"In fact, university administrations and human resources departments are involved in most mobbing
campaigns, either actively or passively, by failing to take corrective action. An estimated 12 percent of mobbed professors end up committing suicide."

You might wonder what was his crime? After all, he an excellent academic track record. The report makes clear it was mainly Pielke's stance on climate change in relation to extremes, on which he is an expert.

His work makes clear that most extremes so far are not changing in frequency or intensity and that damage as a result of extreme events is not increasing after you correct for population and economic development.

However prominent Democrats starting with Al Gore's movie in 2006 wanted to relate climate change to extreme events. So Pielke for them - due to his academic credentials - was an annoying thorn in their side.

That Democrats at the top behave like this is horrible but it is sad to see that this power play to damage an academic influences the faculty management of CU Boulder, where Pielke is a fulltime professor.

and led on campus over two decades have now
been shut down."

"While taking a break from climate related topics, he spent 2016–19 developing a Sports Governance Center. He says this was ‘abruptly terminated’ by campus officials, and that extensive documents in
his possession prove this to be the case."

Of course the hounding of Pielke sends a chilling message to other, younger scientists who don't have tenure. It's very bad for academic freedom. Keep that in mind when you hear climate scientists speak about climate change.

I urge everyone to read Donna's excellent but horrifying report about Pielke. Maybe the @tudelft can also read it and consider to award a honorary doctorate to him. #end
