Greg Regan: Things are getting better with the supply chain. We can clear the number of containers that are sitting in the yards, but we need to address structural issues that have been decades in the making, such as misclassification of workers.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: Our system is so driven by quarterly profit margins, but our trucking industry can't be built like that. It needs to be flexible & resilient.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: When we don't have the manufacturing capabilities here to produce what we need, we're at the mercy of other countries to get what we need.
@TTDAFLCIO
Rick: You testified in front of the Senate.
Greg Regan: The Repub. side seemed focused on blaming Biden and/or vaccine mandates. They want to lower the age of truckers & change the hours of service requirements.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: The trucking industry has a 90% turnover rate. There isn't a lack of workers--they're leaving almost as soon as they get hired. Allowing 18 yr-olds to get CDLs will have an initial surge in avail workers but it won't address the underlying problems.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: The @Teamsters have rail members. When you get that job, you're going to stay because it's a good paying job with good benefits. Those who are leaving no longer want to work in an industry where the company is cutting corners, making things unsafe.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: A lot of short-sighted policies have gotten us to the problems we have now.
@TTDAFLCIO
Rick: The entire system is privately run. How come we don't hear about how inefficient they are?
Greg Regan: I don't think people realize how the goods in the stores get there. There's a lot that goes into getting that done, & people only pay attn when it goes wrong.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: What we've done over the years about limiting gov't agencies' ability to provide oversight means that companies can get away with things. We need to restore that oversight.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: We've got some trains that are 5 miles long--5 miles!!--and they want ONE person to man that train? We need to make sure to lock in a minimum of two-person crews.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: Rick Scott of FL was complaining we didn't have an oversight hearing on supply chains...in the middle of an oversight hearing on supply chains.
Rick: They don't believe gov't should do anything so they try to handcuff the gov't so it *can't* do anything.
@TTDAFLCIO
Greg Regan: We need to continue to put the focus on the industries that are responsible for this. A lot of focus is on the ports, & things get backlogged moving containers into the country. How do we change things to make them better in the future?
@TTDAFLCIO

Vincent Perrone: You would think something like this would never happen but it's been happening at UPS for well over 20 years. Last year I was put in a position where I could do something about it. (con't)
@Teamsters @804_local
Vincent Perrone: (con't) UPS browbeats employees, incl mgmt, to donate to United Way b/c it makes UPS look good. I knew this was going on all over the country. (con't)
@Teamsters @804_local
Vincent Perrone: (con't) We got an initial group of people who came forward, saying they did not authorize the $ that was being deducted from their paychecks as donations to United Way. Our lawsuit was based off 2019, the first year I was in office.

Bruce Ledewitz: Rittenhouse went into this, wanting to be a hero, protecting people against lawless elements, but that's not how it turned out. He saw himself as a sort of John Wayne.

Bruce Ledewitz: There *are* good guys with guns: We call them the police.

Bruce Ledewitz: The first victim said he was going to kill Rittenhouse, but it's inherently ambiguous.

Bob Ney: Years ago, we didn't throw anyone off a committee for saying things we didn't agree with. We might have tried to bring a censure resolution to the floor. Why do Dems in the House want to do something to take care of a Repub problem?
@bobney
Bob Ney: Let MTG remain on the committees & be a problem. No matter how much you loathe the person's comments, unless they're threatening to kill someone, you can't throw them off a committee.
@bobney
Bob Ney: No matter what we were doing, we still had a policy agenda. The lack of policy by the Repubs is not a marker that's being held against Repubs b/c they're sitting back & waiting. It may be held against them next year.

Sarah Burris: Remember the dude who went to one of those pizza places & started shooting off his gun when they told him it would be a 10 min wait?
There's been an increase in police officers being shot. You have to expect that when more ppl have guns.
@SarahBurris @RawStory
Sarah Burris: There's case law on this; I don't know why Trump keeps trying. At least Trump is paying his lawyers.
Rick: Is he, though? Paying them?
Sarah: Hopefully they made him pay up front, given his history of not paying.

Sarah Burris: I feel I've spent a lot of time this week, writing about conspiracy theories.
Rick: Did you see the bird conspiracy is back? That there are no birds, they're robots that sit on power lines to recharge?
Sarah: South Park makes fun of these stupid ppl.

Sari Beth Rosenberg: I see book burnings all the time. I think that tree that was burning was mistaken for a huge book...just kidding. Where were you when the Fox News possibly-made-in-China tree was burning?

Sari Beth Rosenberg: The right loves to quote MLK, Jr., out of context, but now they're threatening to ban some of his books.
Rick: That's because they read the next sentence.
Sari Beth: It wasn't a fake quote meme they were reading.
@saribethrose @VotersTomorrow
Sari Beth Rosenberg: I'm winning! I haven't had a problem with my students wearing masks & I haven't gotten in trouble for teaching about racism.
Rick: My wife just got back from our school board mtg & the anti-maskers were out.
