Vincent Perrone: (con't) We got an initial group of people who came forward, saying they did not authorize the $ that was being deducted from their paychecks as donations to United Way. Our lawsuit was based off 2019, the first year I was in office.

Vincent Perrone: UPS couldn't provide paperwork proving the employees had authorized the deductions. We sued for wage theft & won. There was a $1.3 million settlement awarded.

Vincent Perrone: More & more people were saying NO when asked if they wanted to donate, so UPS took it upon themselves to sign people up to donate. If I'm going to donate, I'm not doing it through UPS to make UPS look good, I'll donate on my own.

Vincent Perrone: Preliminarily, a certain portion of the money awarded as a penalty will be donated to St. Jude’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners.

Vincent Perrone: We're in court with UPS over another wage theft issue, & this one involves multiple, multiple people, & is even bigger than the lawsuit we just won. Wage theft is a tremendous crime & won't go unpunished.

Vincent Perrone: It's frustrating when you're not in a position to help a lot of people out. I'm fortunate to be in the position I'm in now to be able to help more people. There are other locals around the country joining in.

Vincent Perrone: If you are in a union & think you are a victim of wage theft, contact your shop steward & your business agent. If you're not in a union, find a very, very good lawyer to take your case.
