“Pro-Lifer”: Abortion is murder
Me: That’s a bumper sticker, not an argument
“Pro-Lifer”: So you can’t refute it
Me: I can refute it, it’s just dumb
“Pro-Lifer”: Do it
Me: How do pregnancies occur?
“Pro-Lifer”: Women don’t keep their legs closed
Me: So they impregnate themselves?
“Pro-Lifer”: Obviously a man is required for that
Me: So a man impregnates them once they “fail to keep their legs closed”?
“Pro-Lifer”: Yes
Me: So the man creates the baby, but the woman is at fault?
“Pro-Lifer”: Yeah, she could’ve just said no to the guy
Me: What about him?
“Pro-Lifer”: What about him?
Me: Couldn’t he have just jerked off or worn a condom?
“Pro-Lifer”: So you’re blaming the guy
Me: That’s just how pregnancies occur
“Pro-Lifer”: So men should always wear condoms
Me: If avoiding pregnancy and “protecting life” is the issue, then yes
“Pro-Lifer”: Let’s focus on the pregnant woman
Me: So it’s not about pregnancy or life, but ok. She should choose what happens
“Pro-Lifer”: Even if it’s killing the child
Me: The unborn cannot be killed and yes it should be her decision
“Pro-Lifer”: So you’re cool with murder
“Pro-Lifer”: Where do we draw the line?
Me: How about at whether it has a birthdate?
“Pro-Lifer”: An unborn life is still a life
Me: But where do we draw the line?
“Pro-Lifer”: ?
Me: Each of your sperm is a potential life. Should you be allowed to jerk off? Or is that genocide?
“Pro-Lifer”: Life begins at conception
Me: So wear a condom or get a vasectomy and you’ll avoid conceiving any unwanted lives
“Pro-Lifer”: Unreasonable
Me: But a woman should be forced by the gov’t to carry your baby to term?
“Pro-Lifer”: Once life is created, we must protect it
Me: So you are obviously in favor of social programs that help underprivileged children
“Pro-Lifer”: No
Me: But you’re against capital punishment
“Pro-Lifer”: No
Me: So murder is ok as long as it’s committed by the state?
“Pro-Lifer”: They’re criminals. That’s why it’s ok.
Me: So it’s not murder if the person you’re killing broke the law?
“Pro-Lifer”: Basically
Me: And you don’t think this mentality creates giant problems of vigilante justice?
“Pro-Lifer”: No, just follow the law
Me: The law for the past 50 years is women have the right to choose

Reminder: You have to actually show up to testify to plead the 5th, and the @January6thCmte can still choose to reject that plea for any questions that they want because that’s how investigative committees in the House of Representatives work.
In criminal cases, the 5th Amendment protects against self-incrimination, guarantees the right to a grand jury & forbids double-jeopardy. But the idea that “pleading the 5th” is some magic get out of accountability free card is incorrect. There are limits on this for good reason
Even if the committee doesn’t exercise it’s power to overrule the 5th, it can probe witnesses’ reasons for not answering & seek immunity from a court guaranteeing their testimony will not be used to prosecute them (this doesn’t mean they can’t be prosecuted for their crimes).
This politico comparison of SCOTUS justices’ stated position on Roe at their confirmation hearings and their current position exemplifies exactly why the court has no legitimacy. Perjury is a felony. All 6 @GOP-appointed justices lied to get confirmed. politico.com/news/2021/12/0…

If you are tired of hearing about another school shooting every week, and more gun fatalities every single day, you are not alone. The question is: what can we do about it? Here are some ways we can actually reduce the number of gun deaths/violence in the United States?
(Thread)
1. BAN WEAPONS OF WAR
Mass shootings are almost always committed with assault weapons like AR-15’s that are military-grade killing machines. They serve no legitimate purpose for and should not ever be in the hands of civilians. We can renew the ban Republicans let expire in 2004
2. REDUCE LARGE-CAPACITY MAGAZINES
Research supports this; even if it may take time to have an effect. It’s also common sense. Gunmen are less deadly when they have to stop to reload. Even if this only reduced shootings by 1% that would be over 650 fewer shootings every year.
What does race/racism have to do with the Rittenhouse case/trial/verdict?
Since that question is evidently confounding so many people, let’s talk about it (Thread)
1.) White Privilege
Kyle showed up to a BLM protest in another state w/ an illegally obtained assault weapon, killed 2 people, shot a third, & not only wasn’t shot or harmed by police; they didn’t even stop him; instead they DIRECTED HIM where to go and he was NEVER ARRESTED.
To contrast, Breonna Taylor was SHOT & KILLED WHILE SLEEPING IN HER BED by police; Tamir Rice was shot & killed for having a toy gun; Trayvon Martin was shot & killed for a bag of skittles; & George Floyd was suffocated to death by a cop who thought he used a counterfeit $20 bill
Parents who think it’s racist for their children to be taught about slavery and racism in school are a great example of why we need to teach our children about slavery and racism in school.
Just watch this interview with Patti Hidalgo Menders, a mother of six who is fighting against the equity and inclusion curriculum in Leesburg, Virginia. I’m gonna break down every ridiculous thing this woman says.
She opens by saying that her county (Loudon, VA) is the wealthiest in the country and therefore “there’s not a lot of racism.” The notion that wealth precludes or reduces racism is false. Wealthy people tend to be better educated; but they are not inherently any less prejudiced.
