🧵HUMAN COST OF ANTI-SCIENCE COVID MEASURES🦠

As some of you know, & for my sins, I’m a lifelong #AVFC fan. Born & bred a Brummie, I’ve followed them home & away for 32 yrs, through thick & thin.

I’ve attended every home game this season. Now, I am banned.

Football was always so much more than 22 men kicking a football around a pitch. It was a culture, a social activity, a release from the stresses of everyday life.

It’s why I attended multiple cup finals, celebrated family occasions there, & trekked to Sunderland on a Tues night.

In fact, my grandparents appeared in the matchday programme as 2 of the most long-standing season-ticket holders of all time. Their whole marriage was framed around a devotion not only to each other, but to our hometown football club.

@avfcofficial was & is ingrained in our DNA.

And, as I mentioned, I’ve been to every home game this season — stood shoulder to shoulder with my fellow supporters. You won’t be surprised to hear, our vaccination status was probably the furthest thing from anybody’s mind, as in every other season.

Alas, it is now no more.

Thanks to this corrupt government’s arbitrary attack on the nation, & the introduction of Covid passports (vaccine passports by any other name), the Villa Park venue I’ve attended multiple times in recent weeks with no issue, now demands I demonstrate my medical status to enter.

As this email shows, Aston Villa now require every single supporter to fill out a “pre-registration form” to “pre-register your Covid status online” —not just once, but before EVERY single game.

These are real-world consequences caused by the actions of our charlatan politicians

Those with backward thinking may say “you’re not banned, you are choosing not to go.”

But if the last 20 months has taught us anything, it’s that compliance will only prolong this nightmare.

“A principle isn’t a principle until it costs you something,”a wise man once said.

I refuse to comply with a measure that was introduced by government with no basis in science, & purely for coercion.

I refuse to comply with a measure that creates a 2-tier society.

I refuse to comply with a measure that tramples over patient confidentiality & informed consent.

And, lastly, I refuse to comply with a measure which is pure discrimination & that will impact disproportionately on the lowest paid and ethnically diverse parts of our population.

I thought we had left those days behind us? Turning a blind eye is still the preference for many.

And let’s be clear here: vaccine passports haven’t worked anywhere in the world.

They:
• don’t limit spread of Covid-19
• don’t reduce restrictions
• do decimate small & medium businesses
• do discriminate against the most vulnerable
• do trample over bodily autonomy

So beneath the headlines, these are the basic freedoms being eroded — bit by bit — while the public at large look the other way.

Others have lost far more — jobs, careers, family income on the back of these anti-science control measures. Restrictions built on fear & manipulation

So, as of now, & with my head held high, I end my long association with #AVFC until these measures are rescinded in full.

My Holte End seat will lie empty as a visual representation of the tyranny sweeping through our societies.

Together, we will resist & we — will — win.
