The Significance of King's Tattoo

#ONEPIECE #Theory Image
The best way to find out this significance of King's tattoo is to look at what the reference might be and what it might represent.

Many have already noticed, from when we got the first glimpse of it, that it looks similar to a Laurel Wreathe. Image
This has already been pointed out by people like, @Peronas_Ghost, who theorised that King may have an association with Emperor Nero.
This seems like it is a good idea and I think even if it is not exactly a representation of a Laurel Wreathe, the idea that it is referencing Old Testament mythos seems to be leading us along the right lines.
This line of thinking is backed up by the recent revelation of King's real name, Arber / Arbel. Depending on the proper pronunciation, this may mean different things. Image
If the proper pronunciation is, 'Arbel', that is an Israeli name meaning, 'Divine Night', this would fit with the idea that King is a Lunarian and that the Lunarians were once regarded as Gods. Image
However, if it is prononced, 'Arber', then that means 'tree' in German, from the Latin root word, 'arbor'.

If this is the case, then it may give us the connection to Shandora and the reason why these places are known as 'Holy Lands'.

This was actually explained in Skypiea. Image
During the celebration before the expedition to find Shandora, Gan Fall explained to Zoro and Robin, why Jaya was also known as, 'The Holy Land.' Because it's rich soil allowed them to grow plants, something that was not possible in the sky.

They called this, 'Vearth'. ImageImageImageImage
This information is given further context through Enel's cover story, through which we learned that the 3 winged races came from the moon city of Birka, seeking natural resources.

With this in mind, it becomes clear why the Lunarians settled on the Red Line. Image
As Nami explained, the Red Line offers all climates, this would make it an ideal place for the Lunarians. And the peaks of the Red Line would be at the perfect altitude for a winged race like the Lunarians.

It seems likely that the Lunarians prospered through plants. Image
This then, explains that Jaya and Mariejois, are known as 'Holy Lands' for the same reason, these lands allowed the winged races to grow their natural resources.

It seems likely that this was the pride of the Lunarian civilisation, as it was for the Shandorians and Skypieans ImageImage
It seems no coincidence then, that within Mariejois, there is a place called, 'The Room of Flowers.'

This was likely the Lunarian Garden.

Many have already theorised that this room is a reference to, The Garden of Eden. Image
If this is the case, then perhaps that provides the connection to the tattoos of Calgara and Wyper, they may represent the Devil Snake that tempted Eve with the forbidden fruit. ImageImage
It seems likely that within this garden, there is a particular tree. Many have already suggested, that there may be a Devil Fruit tree in the Room of Flowers. But perhaps there is a tree that references, The Tree of Life, that appears in Genesis. Image
This connection may provide us with a huge clue as to what King's Tattoo may represent, the blossom of a particular tree, a 'Tree of Life.'

A Cherry Blossom. Image
It's easy to forget that Dr Hiriluk told the story of a famous pirate from West Blue, who suffered an incurable heart disease.

It was only thanks to miracle that he survived. He stumbled across a forest of Cherry Blossoms.

Shortly after, he was cured. Image
It is for this reason that Hiriluk chose the Cherry Blossom as the symbol of medicine.

King's tattoo represents the pride of the Lunarians, a plant that can cure all things. Image
This reminds me of Doflamingo's words from his jail cell. "Isn't it ok to reveal what it is already? Power degrades quickly anyway. It rots away in no time at all."

Interesting choice of words, 'rot' & 'time'.

Almost as if it is something that withers and has to be regrown. Image
King's Tattoo represents the pride of the Lunarians, the blossoms of a particular tree, that create a miracle medicine. This miracle cure is also, The National Treasure of Mariejois.

The Motives & Mysteries of Mihawk

#ONEPIECE #Theory Image
Despite being one of the earliest antagonists to be introduced in the story, Mihawk remains one of the most illusive characters when it comes to details being revealed about him.

Oda seems to intentionally avoid giving explicit information on Mihawk Image
So if there is very limited explicit information to go on, what can we learn from the implicit clues?

The following analysis will discuss all the things that may give us clues to the motives & mysteries of Mihawk.

The Curse of the Holy Land

#ONEPIECE #Theory ImageImageImageImage
This idea came to me whilst I was discussing the foreshadowing that can be found in Skypiea.

Looking back at Noland's flashback, the subject of the Shandorian's sacrifices to god stands out as something that seems like it may have deeper significance. Image
For 400 years after the destruction of Shandora at the end of the Void Century, the people of Shandora had believed that any misfortune that befell them was a curse from God.

The only way to prevent divine judgement was to make ritual human sacrifices at the alter of god. ImageImageImageImage

The One Piece & The Country of Gold

#ONEPIECE #Theory
This theory stems from the revelations in 1040's official Viz translations. Big Mom stated that she believes that part of the One Piece is in Wano.
I think it's fair to say that this was everyone's first reaction lol

One Piece Chapter 1040 Review

#ONEPIECE1040

Falling on deaf ears
We begin the chapter with the continuation of the cover story following Germa's escape from Whole Cake Island.

We see that Niji & Yonji were defeated by Big Mom.

The cover page title has an interesting implication

"A creature that science cannot overcome."
This title reminds us that Big Mom's story has had the constant underlying involvement in the separate plot line of the World Government's experiments.

The title seems to suggest to me that Big Mom will be overcome by science.

Zunisha's Crime

#ONEPIECE #Theory
Warning, this thread will contain spoiled from 1040. If you are an official release only reader, I recommend saving this for Sunday.

Let's get in to it.
Ever since chapter 821, we have learned that Zunisha once committed a crime and has since been charged to walk the earth for eternity as punishment.

For a long time we have wondered what this crime could have been.
