Gaming this out I see a huge economic crunch in 2022 as we are attempting to come out of this but get hit with a wave of long Covid like nobody has ever seen before.
Many smaller companies will finally close for good, or sell to larger conglomerates.
Ultimately capital wins.
(This is the point. Capital doesn’t care about humans, capital *adjusts* to things like mass disabling events. Yes, some people will lose everything - capitalism expects that.)
Biden saying it’s a state issue moving forward, these new policies guaranteed to spread Covid… what was it all for?
You self-centered motherfuckers are just going to infect all the vulnerable people anyway, and capitalism will launder it.
I feel stupid for expecting otherwise.
And the worst part is that everyone engaging in riskier and more deadly behavior will be looking at you like you’re crazy if you point it out.
“What, do you not believe the CDC? You’re just addicted to trauma and want restrictions. Omicron isn’t even that bad!”
A friend made a choice re Covid safety that I found so irresponsible that I scaled back our friendship, and a part of what they said was “I know you’re traumatized but…” and like no, that’s not it.
It’s that the only thing that has changed is that the pandemic got WORSE.
The worst part isn’t the people suffering and dying all across my neighborhood. It’s not even my partner’s new debilitating Long Covid situation.
It’s the constant gaslighting from everyone from the president to my friends to strangers about this.
We are in different realities.
I’m just screaming into the void at this point.
Just, I don’t understand how ANYONE could have lived through the past five years and not become a political radical ready to take drastic measures to save the world.
And yet.

I’m looking for a BIPOC NEURODIVERGENT scholar of bell hooks.
I want to pay you to run an online book club where we read From Margin To Center.
The goal is to help the Autistic community confront its huge Whiteness problem.
If this is you, DM me with rates.
Please RT!
Here is the thread announcing this and discussing details. Originally goal was to be self-directed, but if you can help us do this better and create a safe environment for white folks who want to do better I want to pay you for that work.
Not getting any takers so let me break this down further: the work would be dividing the text into weekly reading assignments and then prompt participants to write a Twitter thread reflecting on the reading.
For this I can pay $300, can gather more from volunteers if necessary.
OK for real, Neurodivergent Book Club, we are going to read From Margin to Center by bell hooks.
It's less than 200 pages, and it will inform our activism and advocacy in ways that we need.
Reply to this tweet if you are in and can get the book by Jan 1.
Paging #ActuallyAutistic friends, #ADHD and #Neurodiversesquad -- let's gather to read a short bell hooks book and grow together. Respond upthread to participate! :)
This group will move slowly to give people time to read and think. I am thinking a weekly chapter or X pages, I will have a reading schedule by the time we get started.
CW: SA Watching @arthur_affect tirelessly argue with British transphobes is exhausting just on its own.
The double-speak, moving goalposts and inconsistent arguments are easier to wholesale ignore than engage with but what does that get us?
These people redefined “rape”.
(Specifically, in the UK “rape” is now a special and particularly bad form of “sexual assault” that’s only possible with a penis. If there was no forced PIV penetration it wasn’t rape, apparently.
Decades of regression.
All of this to stick it to trans women. It’s appalling.)
“Well hang on” you might be thinking. “Rape is more than just forced PIV sex!”
You’re right, but not in the UK. Transphobes, in the name of “protecting women”, have cheapened what “rape” means.
They’re out here defending certain kinds of rape as not really rape. As “feminists”.
Is this true? Because I've had a weird feeling ever since like a decade ago when the Catholic Church issued policy on extraterrestrial life (for no reason!) around the same time as the English announced some sort of ambassador role?
Anyway, for the record, I think aliens are probably real but they're probably not from far away physically.
I think they exist right here, among us, living at speeds that preclude our recognition of their sentience, distributed across dimensions we can't perceive.
The universe is just energy vibrating. Some of those vibrations register as light, some as sound, some as touch, etc.
But most of those vibrations we don't have the senses to detect.
Isn't it a little much to believe that alien life would share our exact sensory configuration?
Gotta love being trolled all evening by a communist doofus. It’s my own fault I should have blocked him instead of taking amusement.
But it compels me to say: if you are walking around carrying shame for your parents’ or grandparents’ toxic choices it’s ok to put that down.
I don’t really talk about my parents on here very much, with a few exceptions. But I’ve never kept it a secret that my grandparents harbored some antisemitic views.
I thought for a long time that those reflected on me, and was ashamed of them.
But the only shame is silence.
My grandparents lived a hard life in a different time, and like many people bought into propaganda geared towards diving the population.
In their case it was old czarist propaganda that was circulated through the churches, which were fighting against the communists.
