The latest coordinated campaign by the #TPLF wing in the diaspora and #TPLF activities revolves around drones and with the intention of hampering Ethiopia’s defense capabilities.
a mini-thread on the build-up to impose an arms embargo against #Ethiopia.
The #TPLF have failed to achieve their goal of overthrowing the federal government by force and returning to power, They failed not once but twice.
1st when they waged war against the government by attacking the military base of the Northern command in Tigray back in Nov 2020.
The second time, they managed to re-group, mobilize and march all the way to Debresina ( 600 KM from Tigray regional capital Mekelle) only to be pushed back to Tigray after losing 10s of thousands of Tigran youth died in vain.
While #TPLF rebels are losing on the battlefield, they still managed to push in the digital front thanks to the mainstream media who can't keep fanning out biased reporting and Sensationalism which helped to fuel the conflict even further.
The mainstream media and the #TPLF activist are working hand in hand to resurrect the defeated #TPLF forces by garnering international support for their wicked agenda of destroying #Ethiopia as a nation.
Their most recent campaign is to manufacture consent around drones by #Ethiopia and targeting to impose an arms embargo.
They are taking a step-by-step approach to achieve this goal.
1. Establish the use of Drones by #Ethiopia Military: This has been going on for a while now with constant reporting of drones being used against the rebel armed groups. SO what?
They are setting the scene.
As the second step, they Overplay the narrative drones were the factor for the triumph of Ethiopian forces over the #TPLF which marched to the capital... this of course downplays the sacrifices of thousands of people who sacrificed their lives fighting against the #TPLF.
Thirdly, they keep talking about how the drones are being supplied by foreign countries considered hostile to the US. here is where they start to associate Ethiopia with Iran, China, and Turkey which are considered enemies to the US.
It's part of the plan.
Forth, they Start to build fake reports of civilian casualties of drone strikes. The obvious sources here are TPLF media which show ridiculous accusations with images of field crops set on fire by a drone or a woman with minor cuts on foreheads shown as surviving a drone attack.
Finally, they start calling for an Arms Embargo on #Ethiopia. It starts with TPLF groups, sham -humanitarian then by the US, Europe, UN
This of course has nothing to do with peace or civilian casualties but to weaken Ethiopia's defense forces and help the military defeat #TPLF.
No wonder why Egypt would be behind a scenario that makes it convenient for it to attack Ethiopia while its defense capabilities are weakened. After all, this would be on top of the $1.3 billion a year in military support provided to Egypt by the US.
Ethiopia is not new to the use of the Arms embargo while it is being attacked by its enemies.
It happened during the Italian invasion in 1935, where Ethiopia was blocked from getting weapons ammunition to protect itself, and in 1977 Invasion by the Somali.
Ethiopia has the right to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. Any call for Arms Embargo goes beyond the current conflict and seen as active support for Ethiopia's adversaries to wage war. It's a wink signal for Sudan, Egypt to attack Ethiopia.
The west has long enjoyed abusing international institutions and treaties as a weapon against poor countries by stripping away their sovereignty and weakening their ability to defend their country.
We should say no more using an arms embargo to weaken a sovereign state.
Needless to say, it was looting the country's resources, rigging elections, arresting or killing dissidents, and being implicated in large-scale human rights violations.
It was ousted from power in 2018 following strong pressure from the public and civil disobedience.
Manufacturing consent and how the media keeps painting a dark image of an African nation.
a thread on the latest hit job article by @declanwalsh published on @nytimesworld
Over the 1 year since the fall out of PM @AbiyAhmedAli of #Ethiopia with the western countries, we have come accustomed to the continuous and ever-increasing smear campaigns perpetrated by the mainstream media including @CNN, @Reuters@BBC@AlJazeera to name a few.
2/
The latest hit piece comes from @nytimes and its Chief African correspondent @declanwalsh who admires African child soldiers who call them “Motivated young recruits”. No surprise if @declanwalsh sees young children and fetishizes them as “Beautiful young brides”.

Sharing a few pointers on How concerned members of the international community including the UN , EU , AU , United states and other countries can play a constructive role to end the war in #Ethiopia.
