#MorningRant I’ve lost the stomach for Christians whose idea of counsel is to take a prepackaged scripture out of the freezer & serve it cold to people struggling with hard questions.

Nobody wants your “the Bible says” cold-cuts sandwiches served on stale white bread. (1)
Social media makes it easy to read a post (without any context of a person’s struggle) & just comment some random, irrelevant verse of Scripture—as if GOD didn’t give us His Spirit to read people so we would know what WORD is appropriate to their situation & crisis. (2)
Truth should be spoken mercifully, in love, and in context. The Scripture itself is a guide to lead us to Christ. Jesus said so Himself in John 5:39-40.

If love doesn’t motivate your Scriptural counsel you’re doing nothing but sticking knives in people’s hearts. (3)
We (Believers) have a grand opportunity to preach Jesus by the way we care for & counsel those who are terrified by current events.

But lacing the Gospel with political poison & religious pride only glorifies our egos & these echo chambers we call faith communities. (4)
We have been in a crisis since Obama took office because the church in all its racist glory was offended by a black man in office.

In the years following, America has been in steady decline because of the hatred & moral duplicity of faith leaders. (5)
Now we’re in this seemingly never ending pandemic & they won’t even wear masks because they’re so “enlightened” & superior that no one can tell them anything.

Vaccinations are the mark of the beast. The CDC is Satan. Q-Anon. Trump won. I’m done. How are they even saved? (6)
I’d rather be a Christian surrounded by honest, kind atheists than by dishonest, unloving, & arrogant conspiracy theorists who call themselves followers of Jesus.

It is exhausting. Spiritual stupidity is the worst kind. It’s a mockery—a caricature of true faith. (7)
You may be wondering what motivated this rant. Well, it’s my repeated & unwelcome interactions with conspiracy theorists who misuse scripture to keep the world confused, drained, & angry by their incessant spiritualizing of warrantless claims & stupidity. (8)

THREAD!!!

There are modern psychological terms that aren’t accounted for in Scripture. But that doesn’t mean they are not important to our spiritual development. (1/7)
Some mental & emotional conditions we experience often posture as “fruit of the spirit” (love-traits) when in reality they are based completely in fear—especially the fear of people. (2/7)
Codependency is one such condition. Codependency is the habit of constant “self-neglect” used to gain love, validation, or acceptance from others. It is trading your welfare for the welfare of others—not because of love, but in exchange for approval & acceptance from them. (3/7)

The Mark of the Beast is:

1. NOT a literal mark, but a seal of loyalty to the Beast. Just like Saints are “sealed” by the Holy Spirit in loyalty to GOD.

2. Received on the forehead & hands. (Both are imagery) Rev. 13:16; 20:4

The forehead = the heart.

The hands = our deeds
For the love of GOD, before you start spewing stupid ideologies about end time events STUDY THEM & at least learn what the imagery means.

I’m so tired of reading the ramblings of unlearned “prophets” & pastors who don’t know their Bibles.
Consider Moses’ figurative use of the hand & forehead.

Exodus 13: 9
“This annual festival will be a visible sign to you, like a mark branded on your hand or your forehead. Let it remind you always to recite this teaching of the LORD...”

THREAD

For those of you who have decided that your “path forward” doesn’t include the circle (or certain members of the circle) you were a once a part of, I have some unsolicited advice.
1. Be as prayerful about HOW you leave as you are about WHY you’re leaving. For whatever reason, people are notoriously ignorant about the right way to EXIT.
Nothing ruins reputations & damages equity like a botched departure.
2. Be forthcoming. Especially if the circle you are leaving gave you an opportunity. You owe it to them to hear it firsthand from you that your time has come to an end. Don’t let them find out on social media, the news, or from the town gossip.

1/Under the Mosaic Covenant, GOD functioned in a suzerainty. At times, He partnered with villainous outsiders to discipline his people in lieu of completely destroying them. In a vassal arrangement, the stronger King had that right.
2/To suggest that GOD operates the same way under the “Grant Covenant” He made with the Lord Jesus Christ concerning us is to misunderstand (1) Who GOD is & (2) How covenants work.
3/GOD established the New Covenant in partnership with Jesus so that He can finally express His great love, mercy, & kindness to ALL people. This New Covenant is a better covenant built on better promises.

The argument that “I’m covered in Jesus’ blood so I still attend church & take no distancing precautions” is “living by faith” raises eyebrows & has sparked disagreement in the faith community. (1/12)
Here’s how I see it. Some faith communities focus exclusively on the “protective power of GOD” while others focus on the “obligation to be prudent.” But which is correct? It depends. (2/12)
The Bible says in Proverbs 22:3
“A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.” (3/12)

There are many leaders in Christian churches who don’t understand the Gospel or its power.

What they offer is a vindictive, judgmental, & antiquated picture of a pre-Calvary GOD who appears to be forever seething. (1/10)
The problem with this type of preaching is that it (1) ignores the Cross (2) Minimizes the sacrifice of Christ (3) Teaches the Law of Moses as Apostolic Doctrine & (4) Robs believers of the benefit of being in Christ. (2/10)
Ignorance is NOT orthodoxy. It is ignorance. Not knowing is not an excuse for the damage that’s being done in the name of the Lord.

It’s better to be a weak Christian struggling under Grace than a self-righteous Christian who is proud of his legalism. (3/10)
